When i go to play this, On my first go it seems like its going to start and then nothing happens

i do the ctrl+Alt+Delete and it shows "Not responding", so i close it

next go it works.

Same here!

WinXP SP3 all updates june or july 2013.
Installed DirectX 2010 June.
Smallest resolution possible on desktop 800x600 32-bit.
No antivirus at all.

Computer:
ASUS P4S800D-X 478 SiS 655FX.
Intel Pentium 4 3.4GHz 1MB cache.
2GB (Asus qualified) Kingston memory 400MHz dual channel.
Nvidia Geforce 4 Ti4800 AGP8X and nVidia Forceware 93.71 WHQL.

...and the game crashes when I try to open the "Play Mission" section in the main menu.

@DeMignon: the "Play Mission" option isn't too important, unless you really want to play individual campaign missions again. Just keep a save file for each one. Skirmish (Kaos mode), add-on missions (New Missions) and starting a new campaign or loading a game all work fine.
