Rookie82: Hey guys, first of all, as far as I know, you can build only 4 times the same structure (eg. turrets, alternativ-Energy (like the pigs or solar panels). I think its the same with barraks aso. (Only fences are free of limits, imho)
So maybe you just reached the limit for the specific structure.

Kadrok: That's not what this is, unfortunately. When you've reached the limit on things like a turret the option to build it disappears from the side bar. In this circumstance, we successfully find it on the side bar, submit the build order and then are told "Unable to build". Likewise with units. Furthermore, the limit seems to be arbitrary and unrelated to mission settings... it just seems to happen suddenly at a random point in the mission... abruptly units can't be built regardless of how many you have (I had no units left and one point) or how many resources you have.
Now that I play on Windows7, I get these errors too. I solve them like the "mission failure" errors.
Try saving frequently (every 5-10min) and as soon as the error "cannot build anymore units/buildings" occurs. End the game and reload latest savegame. Works for me. Only once my savegame was corrupted too, so I had too start more than 10min earlier.

Be Aware to INSTALL as Admin and RUN as admin!. (doesn't save you from the failure messages, but the save/load works ;)

But still its the biggest shit, that it runs so unsmoothly. Not exactly the memories I expected ;)
Hello.
Did any of you managed to solve this problem?
Did gog replied?
I can't find antyhing about it on google.
This is the only right topic I could find.
I also have this problem.
I installed and run game as Admin, I have Win 7 and this is the only one problem I had with this game.
Changing units limit in options didn't help.
Maybe there is a solution in Options.cfg file? But I can'r decipher which line of code would do it...
Can anyone help?
Cheers

deadpool223: i'm play through the campaign as the evolved and i've reached the first tech-level 3 mission after a few minutes the game suddenly starts going.

Unable to build when i try to place a new structure.
or it goes couldn't create unit whenever a unit finished production.

anyone know how to solve this?

I definitely have enough resources with over 3000 and no way to spend them since it refuses to build new units or new buildings. which is making the mission impossible to complete because i can't rebuild my losses.
Hello.
I think I found the solution.
I had the same problem on Win 7. I wanted to sent an email to support, but then I thought to check one last thing before.
So I checked what compability is set. It turned out there was none and the game was working fine (apart from that bug).
So I set it to win 98 and so far this bug is gone.
I successfully played at least 5-6 missions, and I had this bug in them before.
So can anyone else confirm that solution?
Cheers

Hi.
It worked for me. Sisnce I've done it I had no mission with this notification. But please try different compability settings as well if win98 wouldn't help.
Cheers
Sad but true, this is NOT the solution. For me, at least.

I'm having exactly the same error after some time of playing it. I also tried editing the options.cfg in the KKND2 folder and changed the values of the MAX-Values to no effect.
The awkward think is, that I could play perfectly fine for days (I'm playing solo multiplayer against bots) until this error came up. I didn't try reinstalling yet, but I think this might be considerable.

Does anybody have another idea?

EDIT: Reinstalling (temporarily?) fixed it for me. I don't know why exactly this happens, maybe it's a game file that gets corrupted after some time of playing.

This is NOT SOLVED!

The error occured for me even after reinstalling the game. Running it on compatability mode 98/Me doesn't fix anything either.

Does anyone here have a real solution?
THIS IS NOT SOLVED!

I had this in two out of three MP sessions yesterday. While my troops still appeared on the screen of my team mates, mine said "couldn't create unit".

Please provide a game update to fix this, guys!

Hi, just wanted to chime im to confirm that it has apparently also helped me. I ran into this bug one time, applied Windows 98 compatibility and haven't seen it since. So, many thanks for this.

Interestingly I also haven't run into the "mission failed" bug yet. Also the game used to crash occasionally after starting a mission or loading a saved game (which wasn't a big deal, actually), that hasn't happened since I've applied Windows 98 compatibility either.
NOT SOLVED

I just bought the game and in the second mission the exact same problem happened to me. Interestingly, my Computer enemy seemed to not be able to build new units aswell, which is why I was still able to win the round with the few units I had left.

PLS tell me there is a fix for thi issue by now :(
NOT SOLVED

I just encountered the unable to create error on the final survivor vs evolved map. I get about 5 minutes in, and then nothing. Destroying buildings and units does not help to eliminate the issue...
Here is the solution: Don't install it through gog galaxy, install it through the installation file from gog.com and it will work like a charm.

Tested on windows 10 x64
Not solved - still major issue and makes the game unplayable.

Luke.
Right click on icon game -> Properties -> Compatibility -> Run this program in compatibility mode for : Windows XP

:D
The above posts seem to be the fix.

All I had to do was run the exe (shortcut in start menu) as administrator. I'm on windows 7.

I didn't need to run in compatibility mode, but if admin doesn't work, try it out.
