hi has anyone found anyway to get both kknd games working in windows 10 ? i just get a game crashed error when attempting to play it after installing no matter how i try using it ive tried admin mode and compatibility modes for everything now im at a loss as to what to do to get it working thx
Same problem here.
And if I try to start the game in the gog galaxy launcher, nothing happens, not even an error. just nothing.
i have fond a patch hin the forums but i think that is just for the resolution or something ? not sure any help much appreciated
Same problem here. Waited around 10 or so years to play this again and neither game is working. kknd extreme is a generic game crashed error. For kknd2, you click the play button and it just goes grey and green again a second later. No error message, no tasks in task manager, no nothing.
Install as administrator and in compatibility mode. Game starts haven't played yet. But plan to later this evening.
PS They work so far. Windows 10 64bit

Guys, I don't have these games so I can't say this will work or not but I had a similar issue with Delta Force after the Windows 10 anniversary or 1703 update.

It was solved by performing the following:

Open Control Panel

Click on Programs and Features.

Upper Left click "Turn Windows Features On or Off".

When the list populates find Legacy Components, you might have to scroll down.

Click the tiny PLUS to the left of Legacy Components.

There is Direct Play item in there and make sure it is CHECKED. Click OK.

If this works then please pass on kudos points to Vasilios (link above).

I hope it works!

I was getting a DirectDraw error after trying this although had no errors or response at all before this so I knew it fixed something. Still neither Krush Kill game would launch, but after running both games as administrator it worked. Fixed Krush Kill 1 & 2 for me!

Can confirm - installing DirectDraw and running it as Administrator works.

why cant i find legacy components? it is not in the list
If the above methods does not work. Try the following. It worked for me.

1. Right-click the game shortcut launcher then select properties
2. Select Compatibility tab
3. At the top, click on the button called "Run compatibility troubleshooter"
4. Select "Try recommended settings"
5. Select "Test the program". It should run. If it does exit the game and click on save settings.
Enjoy your KKND.

@Krankor

THX works well :)))
For anyone looking to script this or wants to make a command to do this in the future (hey gog devs) Open an admin command prompt and type:

DISM /online /get-features /format:table

Look for: DirectPlay | Disabled

If you see that near the top of the list you need to enable DirectPlay. To do that enter this command:

DISM /online /enable-feature /featurename:DirectPlay

That will install Direct Play, If you don't like command line then hold the windows key + R or open the run application by searching for "run" then in the new dialog box type: optionalfeatures

Inside of this new windows expand "legacy components" box click the checkmark by DirectPlay.
