just bought from GOG (only $6 so not overly concerned but would still like to play as I just completed BAK). running windows 7, as administrator, windows service pack 2 compatibility and nothing will start.
tried some different setting in MSCONFIG and now my font is different. any help?

Have you tried the fixing method in this thread? It's for Win 10, but it may have a Win 7 equivalent.

I was referring to the stated font change issue after attempting to run Return to Krondor. The solution in that linked thread fixed my issue a few years back on Win 10. It was very annoying that the game changed all my Windows fonts to the Return to Krondor font and then didn't change it back when it crashed.

demigord: same issue. what a stupid error message, nothing to work with
DId you find a way to fix the problem? Already invested 5 hours and still no solution at my part...
