Shadow0fTheDog: So you said the game doesn't run well on laptops? I have a relatively new Toshiba Satellite, is there anything I can do to get it running? I have an AMD Radeon R7 M260 graphics card.
My brother is able to run the game on his Surface Book (GeForce 940M) in 720p at low settings and he can afford the bloom and around 2.3 in Level of details. We're also working really hard on optimizing the game so it can run on a broader range of devices.

I guess you could try it since there's a 14-day money-back policy, no questions asked, or you could wait a few weeks for optimization updates to come.

Note that there's a recurring problem with Unity games in general which has no system to choose the discrete GPU over the internal one. So, on a laptop, you have to right click on the game executable > Run with graphic processor > High Performance NVIDIA processor. If you're able to run the game that way, you can (1) repeat that each time or (2) select "change default graphic processor" from the same right-click menu, and then add Kôna to the list and change its default settings.

Hope it helps, let us know if there's anything ;)

Luned: The user making a report had an integrated graphics card. If yours is a separate video card, your experience may be totally different.
FYI, I'm using an integrated video card on a minimalist, simple laptop designed for word processing and internet browsing. I never spec'd it out for gaming.

And thanks for the tips. With the video set to the lowest options and depth of field turned off, the game is much more playable/ accessible for me.

Second amendment to my previous report: the sticky key issue appears to be related to the Windows 10 update on this new laptop. The keyboard driver had a migration error and the sticky key issue replicates in ANY video game I try, not just Kona (even an 8-bit homage called Undertale...)

Thank you so much for the feedback and keep up the great work!

Only additional feedback I have on the game itself: In the house with the dream sequence, some of the events were difficult to trigger. After I went upstairs and the shadows recovered the gun, I moved repeatedly throughout the house before the shadow triggered adjusting the picture on the wall. It took several back and forths before the next one triggered as well.

Not sure if it's due to frame drop/skips when I'm passing by the correct location, but I thought it was something you'd want to look at.
Hi everyone, here are the bugs I found

Game does not start and crashes at the loading screen after selecting "play" and choosing a save slot. Sadly I can't even get to play it as it stops responding to windows at this stage. I set all graphics settings to lowest (this was hard to do as well as the text was absolutely tiny barely readable). I'm on an i7 Toshiba Laptop with nVidia card and Windows 7 64 bit.

Windows says
Description:
A problem caused this program to stop interacting with Windows.

Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: AppHangB1
Application Name: Kona.exe

I can supply the "Additional hang signatures" if that helps. :)

My other concern is when I looked at keys I did not see rebinding. Hopefully this is coming because as a left handed person it is vital else I can't play. I use up down left and right arrow keys as well as keys on the other side of the keyboard to play generally.

Hopefully when the next update comes it will fix the crashing and I will be able to play it at least.

Same problem. I am on an i7 Toshiba Laptop with an nVidia card and it does not run. Crashes at the loading screen :( :( :( :( :(

Shadow0fTheDog: I'm not sure if this is the right place for this but I can't get past the loading screen after the menu. The game just crashes. I'm using Windows 10, not sure what other information you require.
Same here except I am windows 7, 64 bit. I'm also on a Toshiba Laptop with an nVidia card. i7 CPU. Graphic settings for Kona set to minimum.

I am not sure if this will help but is that an nVidia card or an nVidia card with an Intel card as well?

nVidia card only. No intel card. The laptop only has an nvidia card onboard.

I'm worried because it is that and also ability to rebind which I need (left handed so I use arrow keys instead of WASD). Main problem is I only have 13 or so days to get a refund just in case. I could hold out but if there are problems later I'm in trouble. I'm sure the crashing will be fixed but rebind unsure. I'll see what the dev says. If rebind is going to be there, I am happy to hold off and wait :)

What about your drivers? What version do you have?

I understand drivers is the default "problem" position but mine are the latest for my graphics card. Only Kona does not run, everything else runs perfectly :)

Also yes latest windows update and patches. It's not a driver issue. It's software. :)

Ok as per another user, instead of waiting infront of the laptop, I just left it for a while and it loaded, so it is just very slow on the loading screen but you need to wait 5-6 minutes and you will get in.

Now my only problem is the controls as I need to use the arrows not WASD :)

Can I ask the dev if rebinding will eventually be put in ? In the meantime please please arrow keys also for WASD equivalent :) and other keys on the right side of the keyboard for us left handers :) Thank you n advance :)

2 bugs that I've not seen mentioned (I assume they are bugs and not just missing features.)

1) The map is black. I've exited the game and came back but it's the same thing. I feel like I'm missing something obvious though...

2) The Journal is completely empty, all sections, including the page which I presume should have images.

I tried the "Verify File Integrity" thing in Steam to no avail.

Specs:
Win 10 x64
Nvidia GTX 980 Ti
16 Gigs RAM
Nvidia Drivers: 361.75

We sure will look into that, thanks for the feedback ;)

Hi,

We're working on a remapping feature that should come in the next few weeks. We'll let you know through this thread.

And for the laptop issue, we're working really hard on optimizations, so it might run better in the next few weeks. Even if waiting 5-6 minutes to play the game is long, I'm glad you got to play a little :P

Thanks for the feedback ;)

A Youtuber ran into that issue, and it was related to the recording software he was using, so he switched to another one. Maybe it's something like that on your side too. If you're not recording your gameplay, let us know and we'll investigate further ;)

Thank you Jeffiset,

A few minutes is nothing. I don't mind at all. I have been playing it a LOT. I just really love it. very atmospheric and I love the isolated snowy environments. It is all fantastic. Thank you also so much for confirming rebinding will be coming so I will be able to change keys and use things like arrow keys as WASD.

Thank you again for outstanding community engagement here. I'm in for the long haul on this game and any other you make. I feel very confident and happy with your ethos, how you engage and report.

:)

About to jump back in for some more play time. I think I missed a few things last time I played....back I go :)

ENJOY THE SNOWSTORM :D
Small bug involving the map:
Stars on the map (for locations you discover in the woods like campsites) disappear if you save, quit, then reload your game.

Also, keys you pick up, is there anyway to look at them? I swear the keys you find in the snow near the general store had numbers on it, but i can't remember what they were.
