"+2% crafting success rate"

Is there crafting in the game? Or is that code speak for blacksmithing? And if so, do you just temporarily equip all your snowflakes whenever you upgrade, and then swap them out again? It sounds like a derpy mechanic, but then again, having to temporarily equip anything for any kind of crafting is bound to be tedious anyway.

Google turns up nothing except for the sequel. Which is a bit of a letdown, since there are so many random drops that are just trash-tier horrible equipment, and you get lots of them, and they usually sell for 1g.

Ugh.

I never found a use for snowflakes outside of the side quest that required you to collect them.

If you're using the blacksmith to craft equipment, you'd be better off equipping Molten Rings (or Greater Molten Rings once you're able to) to offset the cost. You can increase the blacksmith's success rate by increasing his level one of two ways: using grindstones or successfully crafting equipment. Every level increases the success rate by 5%, if I'm remembering correctly.

And yes, the entire blacksmith mechanic is exceptionally tedious.

Since they can be equipped at a low level, Snowflakes are useful early in the game or if you're too strapped to buy the molten rings and horseshoe talismans.
Also you can give them to you low-level characters to make it easier to build up their gear.

Other than that, it quickly becomes useless, especially when you're racking up easy thousands of gold later and buy XP potions for you newcomers so that you can quickly give them the molten rings and horseshoes to make crafting easier and less expensive.

They also make small change later on.
