I hope GOG re-releases the first part (Anno 1602). It is a beautiful masterpiece that has its totally own flair, and you see how this (at least in Germany) very popular series started.
And yes, Anno 1404 requires quite a good machine, if you want to run it at full details. But check out the demo version and you will see, that you can lower the settings a lot. Then the game gets a little uglier of course, but it is still very beautiful to look at.
I definetly recommend you to buy Anno 1701 via steam, if it has that low price! Not only that it is a very good part of the series: They also included the addon, which adds more missions and fixes some comfort issues. For about 7 $ it is a must-buy!
I just purchased the game. It does look pretty good. It even includes the expansion Sunken Dragon. The soundtrack is really good, I hope Steam have options like GOG to download the soundtrack. (Actually the first thing that attract me about the Anno series is the marvelous soundtrack)
Just played the first tutorial, and I have to admit I quite enjoy the system there. Thanks, Rhineland for introducing the game. Hopefully Axiom can catch this game in time during the sales. It is a great deal.
Thanks to you both!
I recently got Settlers 6 and I am loving it as much as Knights and merchants. I didnt see Anno 1701 so I thought it wasn't on steam, but seeing you got it on steam I was like... Hmmm, let me look again.
1701 A.D. gold is what I was looking for. And yuppers I got 1701 A.D. for $7 *arm pump*
Soon as settlers 6 is done it is next on my 'must play' list.
Again, thanks to both of yo for your helpful advice.
EDIT: Yeah I would love to see Zeus, Pharaoh and Emperor the Rise of the Middle Kingdom all on GOG *hint hint if any higher up gogers are listening*
