I have just installed Mask of Eternity on my Windows 10 64-bit system. I initially had a problem where it would crash while copying files to hard drive, but this was solved by running nicode's kqmoepfd script, which seems to have copied the relevant files so the game doesn't have to.

Now I am having a new problem where the voices and sounds effects are not being played. The music is working correctly and the voices were present in the opening cutscene, but there are no in-game voices (though the subtitles are correctly displayed) or sounds associated with jumping, picking things up, etc.

In the install directory I can see that the folder for each region has a 'sound' folder full of .aud files, which I assume were extracted there by the kqmoepfd script. I am not too sure what I might try or what additional information about the situation might be relevant, so please suggest and ask! I'd appreciate any insight.

I do believe that I have solved this. The difference between the music files (which I could hear in-game, and play in Game Audio Player, for which see article on the Video Game Music Preservation Foundation wiki) and the dialogue and sound effect files (which I could not hear in-game and could be 'play' in GAP but produced no sound) is that the former are stereo and the latter are mono. It turns out that in Windows 10, or for me at least, mono audio is disabled by default. You can enable it by going to the "ease of access audio settings" (search through the start menu) and turning it on. Now I can hear the dialogue and sound effects in-game.
