DCT: Well now I feel stupid..

JudasIscariot: Don't. You brought it to our attention :D.
Oh, I thought you guys always had that :) now I don't feel as bad then
So will you patch it into the installation at some point?

OlausPetrus: GOG has patched their Sierra games few times, there was for example major patch to Quest for Glory -series which fixed several issues which had been reported here on the forums. Fixing KQ6 cutscene problem is easy task for them to do (it takes about 10 seconds to fix it if you have the right file) and I believe they will do it.
Only one of those fixes on QFG5 was from GOG themselves, it was audio related (as seems to be the case for MOE) and they fixed it by adding a loop to delay it so the game wouldn't crash. Btw the crashes in MOE don't happen on real Win98 systems just like this bug in QFG5.

Baggins: The biggest issue they really need to fix, is the cd drive check... Since people should't have to install a virtual drive software.
Funny story, I brought this exact thing up with GOG support back on 5/11/11 and got blown off saying it's just the way the game is programmed. Well it wouldn't be if they bothered to take out the GetDriveType function that's causing the problems on computers with no disc drive.

Better yet they could use the Mask.exe from the v1.0.0.3 CD-ROM that doesn't even have that code, I took it a step further and removed the unloading/reloading between worlds in my disc installer. http://www.mediafire.com/file/gl4g87e9xmwe2l2/setup_mask.zip

JudasIscariot: We also have a nice Support link for this issue:

Someone actually from the GOG team? Did anyone ever look into the detailed email explaining the problem that's causing Mask of Eternity to hang that I sent on 10/4/2012? Someone named Genoan said they're forward it to the Development Team, but surprise I heard nothing back.

Arablizzard, have you made an installer that's compatible with gog to get rid of the level loading/unloading?

On a related note, have you found a way to get to the assets in the game files that hold the loadscreen graphics? You can't just do 'printscreen' on modern windows systems as it causes an 'overlay' problem, and all you get is a black field for a screenshot. I've been trying to get those images for a while to add to the King's Quest Omnipedia.

Related to that, I've been curious if there are any hidden artwork assets that don't get used in the regular game, that might be kept wherever those loadscreen files are kept. Same goes for any other stuff that might relate to 2-d artwork used for ingame menus (through cheats I've found some items you can't regularly get in your inventory, have some menu graphics, such as the swamp blossum Connor eats).

I was able to find a few unused textures, that were pretty cool. But those are easy to access as they standard files found in the specific world folders.

No, but I'd consider it if GOG publishes a fix for the TalkComplete function that's causing all these hangs.

As I mentioned before on your other thread, there is no program that I know of that can open the .pbm files.
