So I have terrible performance with this game. I get around 70fps when I just loaded and then as soon as I click somewhere for my character to move, it drops to the 20s-40s. In battle depending who is going to attack, my performance goes from 20-170. If I pop up a menu, it kills my performance.

It's very random and no matter what settings I choose within the game, it still has the exact same performance.

I had issues with the demo too, but I thought maybe the game had been patched and worked fine, but guess not.

Any fixes? (I've tried disabling CF, but it runs exactly the same.)

My system:
Win7 64bit Ultimate
i7 2600k @ 5.0 Ghz
2x XFX HD6870s 1GB CF
8gb x G. Skill Ripjaws X 8-8-8-2 DDR3 PC1600
RAID0 2xOCZ Vertex 3 120GB SSD
Deskstar 1.5GB HDD
Corsair Enthusiast TX V2 Series 850-Watt PSU
Everything is water cooled.

UPDATE: I fixed it!

10.10e drivers. I extracted the main core files and followed a guide from here, to use with RadeonPro without switching my current driver and performance is around 600-900fps now. :-)

SO YES!!! IT IS A DRIVER RELATED ISSUE, I guess somewhere after the 12.1s something got messed up.

Make sure you have the latest drivers as older drivers didn't work with king's Bounty.
I have a HD 5670 and Version 12-4 of the drivers which work perfectly.

I hope this solves the problem for you.

Geoff.
FWIW I get 200 fps with a single 6950 at 1920x1080 on my Core i5 750 system. This is with AMD Catalyst version 12.1.
I'm also having this problem. My computer isn't as good as yours but I am running a quad core with an hd 6870. I've tried everything I can think of but nothing works. There weren't many google results with this problem and no one seemed to have an answer.
Just curious, but what drivers are you using? I'm using 12.4x betas. I'm gonna go back to 12.1s and see if that fixes anything.

Thanks for the posts guys. It seems like no one else is having this issue, it might be a recent issue with newer drivers. I runs fine for the most part, just in a lot of sections it slows down to a crawl.

I think I put over 15 hours into the game already. What an amazing game!

I've only stuck with 12.1 because 12.3 was giving me BSOD problems and I haven't felt like breaking what isn't broken.
I'm thinking it must be either Win7 compatibility or an issue with Radeon because I'm getting pretty horrid performance as well on my updated budget rig. My old rig could run this game butter smooth in 1080p with everything maxed out.

Old rig (super smooth gameplay @ 1080p)
AMD64 3200+ (2ghz single core)
2GB DDR RAM
Nvidia 8800GTS 320MB
Windows XP

New budget build (really poor performance @ 1080p)
AMD Athlon II X4 640 (3ghz, quad core)
4GB DDR3 RAM 1333
Radeon 5850 1GB
Windows 7 64bit
Did you try downgrading from the beta Catalyst drivers?

Edit: Quoted the wrong person.

So I ended up going up to the official 12.4 driver and the driver is crap... so I went back down to 8.97s I'll give 12.1 a shot I guess... but there's some stuff that was fixed on the newer drivers for other games that I won't be able to stay with 12.1.

On ANOTHER NOTE... I tried the Armor Princess demo on Steam and WOW... IT RUNS WORST THAN THE LEGEND!!! There's gotta be something that the game is not looking at in our systems.... I can't imagine why it runs so badly. I can't get above 20-35fps in that game.

That's a pretty cool solution for older games.
This worked great! Thanks for finding a fix.
