Mygaffer: Steam's version has a save file fixer but I don't see such a thing with the GOG version.

I've just checked the link file and can verify that it is still available for download.
I take that back , it didn 't work , it only worked the firdt time I tried , but it the problem reappears at all times after the firdt one .
