Grintiff: For those interested in playing this fine game, King's Bounty: Crossworlds (it also works on King's Bounty: The Legend), using windowed mode, here is the solution.

Within the game's directory, normally C:\GOG Games\King's Bounty Crossworlds GOTY\data you will find a file called game.ini

There is a line in this file which reads:

setf ~windowed 0

Once you found that variable, Change 0 to 1 and it should work in windowed mode.

HOWEVER, doing this sometimes doesn't work from the get go.

If that happens to you then you have to select the main directory of the game, usually C:\GOG Games\King's Bounty Crossworlds GOTY , by clicking on it with the secondary mouse button and select Properties.

Then make sure to untick the option "Read only" in the main directory of the game, or the entire GOG Games directory for that matter.

IF this doesn't work for you, don't worry. Sometimes you can't modify the file within the directory for whatever reason, and when you try to change it, the trick is that the file appears in the directory below.

Username>My Documents>My Games>Kings Bounty Crossworlds

game.ini

setf ~windowed 0

Just change windowed to 1

Voila!

Works like a charm.

In addition, another nice tip for those who love playing in windowed mode and have instant seamless functionality of the OS without the game's window and the taskbar standing in the way of each other is to place the taskbar either at the bottom of the main OS' screen or at the top, set it to display small icons and set the taskbar options (click on the taskbar with the secondary mouse button then Properties) to "Auto-hide the taskbar".

This works amazingly well on Windows 8.1, for instance. I hope this helps. :)

trusteft: Can you set the size of the window?

triock: Yes, either by selecting a resolution in options or by editing game.ini (first 2 lines setf ~screenresoultionx for width and setf ~screenresoultiony for height)

trusteft: Does this work for all games in the series or just for the fist game?

triock: It works for The Legend, Armored Princess & Crossworlds and Warriors of the North. I don't have Dark Side, but it seems that it uses the same engine as all other KB games, so I think it should work too. But windowed mode is not officially supported, just so you know.
