By OP's mistake. Apparently there is no way to 'uncheck' it.
I have the same issue (of course) but editing the ini doesn't fix the problem. Fortunately, I'm getting used to ignoring the floating text altogether. Would love to have a permanent fix for it, though.

Be sure that your changes to .ini are saved / you're editing the file as an administrator.

Oh, definitely edited as an admin and saved it (the line is in there). It just didn't have an effect. Of course, that's assuming that putting it in in the same format as all the other lines is correct (I tried it both as ~setf showflyingdead 0 and as showflyingdead=0, though, just in case; neither worked).

And this is the game.ini file that I'm editing, in the data folder. Just doesn't want to have an effect.

You should edit game.ini in your Documents\My Games\King's Bounty.
The one inside root data folder is the file that restores default settings.

There is no such folder in My Documents\My Games, so I could not edit the file there (I had checked on this first, since I suspected it could be there). However, taking what you said as a big ole hint, I was able to locate the file in the VirtualStore, since I'm not running King's Bounty as an admin.

Definitely helps to have found the right file to edit! Guess I should have ran King's Bounty as an admin from the start and avoided these issues. Oh well.

Thanks! I'll try out the settings in this file this evening.
