Monkey Harris has released a new patch for Kingpin.

**Update 5th May**
Some virus scanners were falsely picking up a trojan in Monkey Harris's Kingpin patch so he has updated it. The link below has been updated to point to the latest version.

There are heaps of fixes and improvements, including custom screen resolutions, several download tweaks, console and hud fixes, and it downloads a list of the current Kingpin servers and it adds them to your 'Join Network Server' menu. Plus several other fixes.

From the readme:-

This is a patch for Kingpin that fixes a number of bugs, and adds some other improvements too (see the readme). No files are modified by the patch, so it works with all Kingpin (v1.21) releases, including the GoG version. The WINMM.DLL file is the patch that gets loaded by Kingpin and PATCHCFG.EXE is a configuration app for the patch. Both files should be put in your Kingpin directory.

Most of the fixes are automatic but if you want to set a custom resolution, turn vsync off, set max FPS and a few others just click on the patchcfg.exe file to open it and set your preferences.

You can download the new patch from here .

Wouldn't it be awesome if GoG included this patch in their Extras for Kingpin :)

This is great - finally a patch that actually fixes the weapon FOV permanently! Also the fixes for console background etc. are great. Thanks very much for linking this.
doesn't work for me.
i set custom resolution 1920x180, activate, vertical sync on, auto-adjust fov, show gun with any fov, enable patch
actual result is game starts in window with 1600x1200 resolution (that is not supported by my display)
my rig is - win10 x64, gtx 760, amd fx 8350, 8 gb ram

Hi,

I passed your problem on to the author of the patch.
He asked you to do the following:-

To confirm whether the patch is loaded, can you ask them
to check whether "1.21" or "1.21P2" is shown in the bottom-right corner
of the console? If it says "1.21" ask them what they see in the text box
at the top of the PATCHCFG.EXE app.

If everything worked ok it should say:-
Supported Kingpin.exe found
Config read from PATCH.CFG
let's see...
it is V1.21 in the console and "Supported KINGPIN.EXE" found and "Config read from PATCH.CFG"

Hi,

Here is Monkey Harris;'s response:-

That looks like the patch isn't loaded for some reason. Perhaps they
didn't put the WINMM.DLL file in the Kingpin directory? Does the
PATCHCFG.EXE text box also say anything about "WINMM.DLL"? It will do if
that's missing.

Another possibility could be that they have Kingpin installed in 2
places. Are they definitely loading Kingpin from the same directory that
they put the patch files, eg. they double-click on the KINGPIN.EXE file
there?
wel... no and no.
WINMM.DLL is in the right place, it is shown on attached "files" picture. I don't have any errors in text box area.
Patch is in the same folder as KINGPIN.EXE file, and you can see successful messages on other two pictures.

I have forwarded this info to MH. It's possible you have discovered a bug he didn't know about.

Just to be sure, if you open the Visuals menu there is no option to set to 1920 x 1080?

Mr D
yes, only 4:3 resolution options - and I have 1600 x 1200 ingame when I set 1920 x 1080 in patch window

I have the same problem, only works in 4:3 window. Everything is set up correctly. Could this be a Windows 10 problem?
maybe. i've tried this game and patch on 3 machines:
1. microsoft surface pro 2 - after some time suddenly stopped working at all and crashes at start
2. my pc with win10 - has a problem with resolution
3. another pc with windows 7, some Radeon HD7000 card and intel i5 2500 - works great

I haven't had a chance to try this yet but if you go into the in-game options and tick the box for "allow alt-tab" you can then use Alt+Enter to make the game go full screen. I'm pretty sure that even though it says 1600x1200 it's actually running in 1080
