OrcGunner: The game wont even launch Im on windows 10 plz help
Hi,

Are you using a laptop or desktop?
Do you have an on-board video card or 3rd party?

First thing to try is to install the Kingpin unofficial patch -
http://download.kingpin.info/index.php?dir=kingpin/patches/unofficial/mh's_kingpin_patch/

Just extract the files to your Kingpin folder.

Same on my laptop: Game loads, Interplay animation plays fine, then game crashes to desktop. My experience is that Kingpin doesn't like intel integrated graphics controllers. It works with AMD APUs and on computers with dedicated VGA cards.

Hi,

Have you tried to install the Kingpin unofficial patch -
http://download.kingpin.info/index.php?dir=kingpin/patches/unofficial/mh's_kingpin_patch/

Just extract the files to your Kingpin folder.

If that doesn't work there are two fixes for Laptops with Intel graphics that work 99% of the time -
http://kingpin.info/?e=619

I really don't want to install some shady ass patch from a unknown safe source ... there must be another fix for this, they should actually have the game ready to work on the get go after we install it.
I agree and the patch didnt work for me. Doesnt load at all, some box appears, stays an outline, then disappears. Pretty lame, one of my favorites from childhood.
I take all that back I got it to work now I unzipped patch files into the wrong folder before. Thanks but I still think it should have worked without the patch, with the low price I guess Steam doesnt care.

The heck is Steam to do with the GOG version of the game, you are on a gog forum not on steam ...

Thanks, had the same issue and it worked for me.

Its the second time I end up having to install an unofficial patch to play a GOG game. Isn't GOG Supposed to take care of that?
They mention they proofed all the games to run on Windows 10. It does appear they are not doing a good job.
How come the support page does not mention this solution?

Thanks

Yes, GoG should incorporate this patch into their version of the game or at least offer it as one of the Kingpin goodies.
This patch has helped so many people get the game running and 99% of the Kingpin community use it as it has so many features and bug fixes.

Indeed, thanks. I am keeping an eye out for patches from now on.
I downloaded the patches mentioned in this thread and copied them to the Kingpin: Life of Crime Folder. It still doesn't launch. All I get is a grey box for about 5 seconds then it disappears. I'm not that computer savvy, am I doing something wrong? What exactly do I do once a patch has been downloaded?
Hi,

Just confirming that you downloaded the zip file called kingpinpatch_v8.zip.

If so you need to extract the two files (patchcfg.exe and wsock32.dll) to your kingpin folder.

Have you gotten that far?
I have done the steps as requested its saying Error Couldnt load pics/colourmap.pcx

Are you using win10 and installed Kingpin in the default location?

If so try installing it to a different location such as C:/Kingpin or C:/Games/Kingpin.
Some ppl have difficulty getting Kingpin to run if it is in the default location on win10 for some reason.
