I just downloaded this game and installed it. Whenever I try to launch the game though, it crashes (Windows Error Reporting wants to send the dump to MS...)
The first time I ran it, I got a DEP warning (the program wanted to execute data held in a memory page marked as non-executable.) This is often the result of a program crashing, but I went ahead and exempted the executable from DEP enforcement to see if that fixed the problem. No dice.
Running Windows XP SP3, Intel Celeron D@ 3.47GHz, 2GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce 9500GT 1GB with latest drivers.

Hi,
Have you tried running the game in XP compatability mode or in Administrator mode?

Have you tried sound hardware acceleration to see if that allows the game to run?
I have run it as Admin, no luck. As to compatibility mode, which version of Windows ought I try to emulate?
Audio output already using full hardware acceleration.
Try running it in xp mode.

solution at http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=140452
download http://www.nhancer.com/
create a profiile for kingpin and add the executable
go to the opengl settings tab and set the following:
in the settings "conformat texture dump" check and select no
in the settings "driver extension limit" check and type "11a8"
leave nEnacer running and execute the game, should work.

The nHancer method worked great for me, no need for compatibility tweaks or the like.
Cheers mate :)

Many thanks! Someone should sticky this for all the nVidia users out there.

P.
Yes nHancer is mandatory, especially with the latest NVidia drivers. I don't know why but they decided to remove the "extension limit" setting which would allow to play Kingpin without nHancer. This is sad because other OpenGL games will suffer from this too.
The nHancer solution was working fine for me until I upgraded to an ATI graphics card. nHancer doesn't support ATI cards - what's the procedure for getting Kingpin to work with ATI hardware?

Cheers!

I downloaded and unzipped the ATI file at the link on this page:

Then I slung it in the 'Kingpin' folder, where kingpin.exe is located. It worked for me, hope you have the same luck!

(I know that link looks like it's for Call Of Duty games, but I found it via this Steam thread for Kingpin - http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1326166&page=2)
It worked! Cheers G189!
Confirmed the nHancer solution works for me. Cheers for the help.
