Nirth: I'm definitely going to try that BlueStacks and see if I can play the android version on my computer. Even better, maybe even hook up to my SmartTV, that would be cool.

cybrbeast, please keep up with your success (or failure) with BlueStacks. :)
Sadly I wasn't able to install BlueStacks, it kept throwing up errors, and I googled fixes, but they didn't work. Maybe it will work for you. Now trying Genymotion, but that seems even more difficult :(

Also I tried it on my phone (GSIII) and the interface was very finicky. Especially moving bars, but even selecting text options was difficult sometimes.

Oh my god, it works through BlueStacks! BlueStacks isn't the most stable emulation I've tried but I assume there a community behind it where you can ask for tips which I'll later do.

I've a Samsung S3 mini and a Nexus 7, I'll try it on both of these as well to see how well the game works. I suspect this game is better suited for a larger screen so both my smartphone and tablet (at least the phone) will be less suited for this kind of game.

ddunham: I do know that HeroCraft is concerned about piracy, so I hope that if anyone else is around with emulators you’re using a game you bought and not one that someone stole from us and posted somewhere.
*Checks to see what site they are on.* What exactly is the connection with an Android emulator and piracy? Then there's this:

cybrbeast: I bought it for Android without playing it yet, mostly to support development of one of my favorite games ...
You have a customer who just bought, possibly re-bought, the game, and wants to play on the device(s) of their choosing. HeroCraft should go worry about actual pirates.

HeroCraft is a russian developer and piracy is well established there, it's likely why they were worried and possibly also because there's more freedom in Android as a operating system than iOS.
This is amazing news. I've been hoping for this for a while now, even bothered Dunham over email exactly 2 years ago. I didn't expect this.

Android was really missing great strategy games. Finally getting there!
Oh: I know it's not my place to judge, but I feel the $10 price point is a bit steep for pretty much any Android game. Just saying.

That's good to hear, I'll give it another try.

Given it has more content than the GOG version, and people seemed to think the mobile version was worth $10, it kind of makes sense that the mobile version have the same price and that it be higher than the GOG price. Time will tell, and ultimately it’s the publisher’s call.
Hooray I got it to work on the PC. I installed BlueStacks via this link: http://techempty.org/install-bluestacks-without-graphics-card/20

Then I synced it with my phone and was able to download it legally to my PC.

Attached image for proof :)

It's much easier to control with the mouse, especially the sliders. Also it's nice to see it bigger than on the phone. I can play this for hours while holding the phone in my hand starts to suck after a while.

Hey brother, what's the best channel to report bugs?

One is easy to spot, when you're reorganizing the clan ring, if you click on faces of nobles already in the ring (top row), it seems to try to select the same guy on the other row, but it always selects the wrong one, if you click again the wrong one even comments on why he should be on the ring instead. If this was intentional, it's not making sense.

The other might not be a bug, not sure... on the tablet the game looks perfect, but on the phone, the interface doesn't look right, it's too different from the iPhone release, art is displayed in mini-windows, you can barely see anything. Perhaps the game is detecting my phone's hi resolution and mistook it for a tablet?

There're other things I can report, this is probably not the best place but I didn't want to miss a chance to comment on the clan ring bug (and forget it later).

In general, to the publisher: support@herocraft.com (and I know they plan an update in the near future, so the sooner the better)

Things related to interactive events to us: customer-support@a-sharp.com

Cool!

Exciting news! I have to admit that this game was a huge reason contemplating an idevice for a future phone upgrade. Hopefully it will do well on this platform.

What's the difference between that version and the one on their page?

I installed my new computer over the weekend and when I reinstalled BlueStacks and was about to put in my credentials for my google account it apparently got rejected. I'll try your guide later to see if it makes any difference.

Have you had any hang ups? It kept freezing occasionally when I tried.

The only difference is I couldn't get the other version to install. It has played fine for me so far (I do have a pretty good PC), but I haven't had much time to play yet.

I may have been the one who contacted HeroCraft and asked them to make a King of Dragon Pass for Android.

Majesty was one the first Android games I purchased three years ago when I adopted Android. I was very impressed by the HeroCraft remake. When I found out that iOS had just gotten King of Dragon Pass, I found the developer's blog and commented on his blog. I asked the developer if he would kindly make an Android version. At the time, King of Dragon Pass was not yet available on GOG; it was almost impossible find and play the game anywhere except on iOS. I have always detested Apple, (and I still do,) so I had no intention of buying an iPhone or iPad just to play a game. The developer, David Dunham, replied to my comment on his blog. He said he would not make an Android port himself, but he would let another third-party developer made one for Android. He said that he had not been contacted by any Android developer.

So I emailed a few Android developers (whose games I had purchased and enjoyed.) I emailed them with links to YouTube reviews of King of Dragon Pass on iOS. I let them know that A# may be looking for a developer to port the game to Android, and that A# already had all the "assets" (David Dunham's word) so working with A# to port the existing assets to Android should not be too hard. I emailed HeroCraft because I knew they had successfully remade and ported an old PC game to Android, (i.e., Majesty.) HeroCraft was the only developer who actually replied to my email - I remember it was a woman who replied. (I think her name was Rebecca; not sure.) She said she would look into the game. That was the last I have heard from HeroCraft.

Soon afterward, the King of Dragon Pass showed up on GOG, so I could play the game again on PC. Since then I had not followed up on the Android port; I got what I wanted on GOG, so I moved on and forgot about the Android version. Now I have just found out the Android version has just been released - and it was made by HeroCraft. Yeah!
