From what I read, there is virtually no chance for this version being updated in any way, but I wonder, do I lose much content by not wanting to buy Apple stuff?

Is it not possible to release the new version on GOG?

GOG.com has mad tech skillz, but I don’t think they can handle iOS, where the new version runs.

What you are probably asking is whether A Sharp can rebuild the game with all the new features. The answer is no. If we could rebuild the game, we would have had a downloadable version for sale in 2006. Also, there is no way to stuff 28 new scenes into the original game (at least not without breaking every saved game). As well as more mundane technical challenges having to do with compiler bugs.
A version for Android would be excellent (though I appreciate the difficulties in terms of standardisation that prevail when programming for Android devices).

When I saw there was an iOS version I immediately hit the Google Play store to see if there was an Android equivalent. I was disappointed.

Truly a great game however.

OK, so that would be too much work for it to pay off, but how about a proper sequel? Either one based on Dragon Pass, or elsewhere in Glorantha. A lot of different options for that. I'd love to play a chaos cult simulator for example - one option I miss in the KoDP is to properly go bad.

The original didn't get sequels since it didn't get the recognition it deserved, but things are different these days. We have GOG, we have Kickstarter. Retro is in and it is easier to find the audience for niche genres. I bet if you did a Kickstarter project it would get traction. Pick a number that would make it worth your while. You have the track record, you have the fans to spread the word, you have the demos (current games for PC and iOS). Promise modding tools as a stretch goal and many people would start drooling even more. In Kickstarter you would easily get people to pay you money for the privilege of being free labor during the development process, both for testing and for higher tiers making events with you.

And if the Kickstarter project would not succeed then it would still be advertising for KoDP, both the version here in GOG and the new iOS version, right?

Now that’s an interesting way to look at it. (Most projects don’t have that sort of side benefit.)
Sadly, I don't have an iOS device, and there are no PC emulators.

Go kickstart, I'll kick in.
I'd love to see a PC/Android version of the iOS KoDP. Even being a through and through Android user, I'm somewhat tempted to buy an iPad just to get those sweet updates and new content for this glorious game.

If PC version were to happen, I'm sure you could make some kind of pre-order campaign with GOG.com like: -50% off for the owners of original KoDP, Receive the original KoDP free on pre-order, Ask Developer a Question, GOG exclusive PDF art-book, CD quality soundtrack etc. It would provide plenty of visibility and advertisement directly to the game's core audience and bring in some money even during the development.

Apart from that there's Steam Greenlight for getting visibility and Humble Bundles, they often have Android+PC bundles going.

I'll also kick any kickstarter for a remake of the original (or all new Dragon Pass project) without a moment's hesitation.

I second that
