Can't find any info in the manual about this. It seems like you can really just set up trade routes randomly, with anyone, and you will have the same benefits. Is that right, or are there factors like relationship status you should take into consideration?

Also, are there any disadvantages with having trade routes? Why would anyone say no to a trade route?

Thought I saw some where that the length of the trade route affected its value.

Once the route is running, I don't recall that the length makes a difference. Your traders are authorized to show up in each other's markets, and profit!

Which is of course why people might say no. Why should traders from an unpopular clan be profiting, at the expense of their own people? So relationships matter when forging the agreement.
