tinyE: How do you disable it?

Lin545: In KSP go to settings and unset "Check for Game Updates on Startup" / "Show Stats Tracking Dialog on Startup".
Launch KSP directly, not the "launcher".
I still don't see that option. Do you mean in the settings.cfg?
Has joystick input been fixed? That flat-out refused to work in the previous release.
Meh, still runs like shit when I turn the settings up.

That's 1.0.5. Have not touched 1.1 yet. : /

KSP performance depends upon GPU and CPU.
http://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/Settings

First, open the debug window with [Mod]+F12.
Go to Performance tab to see the actual FPS.

If you get GPU-based lagging, then you want to reduce or disable any antialiasing, tripple buffering, vsync; then move to reduce terrain detail. The rocket/smoke FX is influenced by "Aerodynamic FX". The splashes in the ocean by "Surface FX".

The CPU-based lag was mainly due to high parts count, causing render call bottleneck, which was worsened by physics running on same CPU core; so the "Max Physics Delta-Time per Frame" all the way to the LEFT was the savior - but it caused physics to loose precision, and Kraken chance to increase. Reducing the "Scatterers" also decreases CPU use (scatterers are stones, trees etc. They can be walked through and purely cosmetic.)

Checking back in after playing the best game of all: "real life". Less than 24 hours later and 1.1 is released. That didn't take long at all. Thanks, GOG.

Instant gratification is highly overrated, in my humble opinion.

Looking forward to trying 1.1.

Enjoy, everyone.
I guess that just leaves one question.

Does anyone know how to disable the auto check for 1.1?

cal74: What does not stop to amaze me is how impatient people have become but that may be a generation thing. Being over my 40, I've so many other things to do / books to read / movies to watch / games to play that I really don't care about these kind of delays. I'll just gladly play it when it's available.
[DISCLAIMER: I really want to point out the fact that I'm not judging the fact that people want faster patching / availability, just wanted to express my humble opinion on that matter]
I used to think the same way. For me at least, it was the trap of thinking about strangers on the internet collectively rather than individually. I think it's probably true for most people that very few of them care for prompt patching most of the time. When it does matter, for whatever individual reason they have at that time, it's far more likely that they will say something about it at that time. It's not that people have become impatient, but rather that there's a huge selection bias in place.

As to my relationship with KSP 1.1, I've been reading dev blogs posted by Squad every Tuesday since I found them about six months ago while searching for a solution to the problem I was having in KSP at the time. At first it was to learn that the most likely solution was going to be a part of the 1.1 patch. Subsequently it was to follow the progress of work towards the release of 1.1.

Sure, I've had lots of other games to play, and I've been playing them for most of this time, but in that time, my thoughts have frequently turned to the impending release of KSP 1.1, which was originally due before Christmas before being postponed for internal development reasons. Am I a little bit impatient in this one situation? Sure, a little. At least enough make a post about it. I do think GOG could improve their processes in order to eliminate this enforced lag by giving more control of releases to developers, stepping in only when individual developers fail rather than placing a delay on each and every release because they have to manually intervene in order to package the game for GOG release. Not because people are impatient, but because for most games there are going to be a small minority of people for whom timing is important. Maybe one day, with one game, that might be you. Then again, maybe not. Either way though, I don't think it's productive to look at the qualities of all people by the things you read posted online. You are certain to end up with a deeply distorted portrait of the human race that is likely to make you are far less empathetic person.

Do you mean the patcher (launcher)?

If so you can just bypass it, if you use Galaxy running KSP through that doesn't even open the launcher and it just loads direct into game.
Alternatively you could just open the KSP shortcut (if that's what you use to run the game) and change its target from the launcher to the KSP exe and just load direct into the game from the shortcut.

paralipsis: ...
I can only agree with what you wrote.

I just want to add that it's not only based on behaviours observed online but on a more general trend. But, as you said, each individual may have his / her reasons and I'll not allow myself to perform any judgement on that matter and it is more an observation.

Should clarify now I've had a chance to play. GOG has changed the behaviour of Galaxy and as of 1.1 it seems to run the launcher/patcher rather than straight into the game like it did with 1.05.

Squad fixed the launcher as part of this release but it currently only works to update KSP if it was bought on their store. Your launcher may update when its run but its only updating the launcher and not the game. Once the launcher is up to date it only briefly checks for updates and closes when you hit play so from what i can see there is no real reason to not have the launcher run everytime as it doesn't seem to use much data and it hosts banners/links to keep you up to date with the latest patches and mods without having to go to the forums.

Just for the record, I wouldn't use Galaxy if you paid me. :P

But thank you for the input. Much appreciated and good to know. :D

We were to get 1.1.1 but something went wrong (Squad found some nasty bugs in 1.1.1) so the GOG patch was postponed until they fix the issues. I guess we will receive 1.1.2 next week (possibly Monday?) if nothing else happens.
