I remember being frustrated about this way back when I originally got the CD version in the 90s. The floppy version should really be made available as an extra -- there's quite a bit of differences, and far less bugs compared to the CD one. This website goes into some detail on the changes:

Hello again. Apparently there is no news about an official patch, so I was wondering if it is possible to upload my file as an update of the game, since it has worked well for you. I do not know how to contact the administrators of gog.

You could either contact GOG's support or talk to one of GOG's moderators.

JudasIscariot and linuxvangog are two mods that... "I can think of right now." (I feel like if I say something specifically positive about those two that I would diminish the contribution of all the other mods.)

Robo4900: I disagree, that would be silly. Ideally, GOG can just put the level file for Orbitus 2 from 1.0 or 1.2 into this version. Orbitus 2 being broken is a bug unique to 1.3, and was introduced by an oversight when the devs made a small change to the level file. Dropping in the 1.0 or 1.2 version of Orbitus 2 will fix it.

I believe the same goes for the missing airboard spots in Medivo and a few other levels.
Okay, I know I'm late and all, buuut that actually wouldn't work, the issue isn't with the level file, it's with a behavior change in the gimmicks.

In any case, hopefully they eventually fix this issue for real.

Wouldn't have hopes too high for a real fix.

But I also made a sort of a fix about five years ago. It is in jazz2online. It is the Orbitus spring event fix.
I didn't put any extra blocks to block the springs because I felt it would ruin the level.
It still takes some practice to get through the spot with this fix.
I play Jazz Jackrabbit with cycles=5500 in dosbox config file.


Oh, and in case someone at GOG happens to read this. Feel free to include my patch in the next build.
I wont charge for it. :)

djazz: Yes, Orbitus 2 is almost impassable in the GoG release, because the GoG release is Jazz 1.3. While it's possible to get through with slow-motion, that's still extremely hard. As a workaround, you can cheat for an airboard:
P, backspace, CSTRIKE. Enter again to lose the airboard.

There are at least 4 versions of Jazz 1. Orbitus 2 is near-impossible only in 1.3. Ideally, GoG could release 1.0 and 1.2 alongside this 1.3 release. For a comparison between the versions, see: www.lixgame.com/jazz/versions.html
What do you mean by CSTRIKE? Trying to get past that bloody level at the moment and I just want it done.

Thank you for this fix - I'm only just now getting into this game and this segment was just head-ache inducing. Only being able to even make the attempt 1 time out of 50 made it hard to actually improve myself, and honestly that was just stupid hard to begin with.

Not yet, but GOG has recently agreed to implement a community-created fix, and a task force is working to assemble the best files to send them. You can follow the effort here.

Thanks very much to everyone who chimed in on this thread; I was going nuts on Orbitus 2 before I realized the level was broken! The CSTRIKE cheat helped me sneak around the problem areas. It's still ridiculously tricky with the cheat, but manageable.
