Hi guys, I'm thinking of grabbing the Jagged Alliance promo pack but I need to know how the run.
I have a 20 inch monitor with a 1600x1200 native resolution. If a game has a resolution lower than that and it stretches the image to fit the screen things tend to look like ass. Running in a window makes such problems a non-issue.
Are each of the 4 games capable of windowed mode, or is there a mod that I could use to enable windowed mode such as the various mods available for Fallout 1&2?
This question / problem has been solved by instantimage
For JA2 there is 1.13 patch mod, but for others... dunno.

As far as the JA1 series is concerned, I'd use dosbox to run them, which means that windowed mode isn't a problem.
As for JA2, I would suggest installing the updated engine from http://ja2.dragonriders.de/ (secret download page for the newest version: http://tron.homeunix.org/ja2/). The new engine is much more stable than the last official patch, and you can switch to windowed mod with ALT+Enter.
1.13 mod is also nice, but since it changes the gameplay considerably, I would not install if you're just looking to get windowed mode.
it changes gameplay if you want, it is fully customizable, and if you take your time, you can set it up to classic JA2. Only with basic features its just updated AI and some stuff from JA2:UB which makes game better.
Thanks for the help guys. I forgot to ask though, is there an equivalent of 1.13 for Unfinished Business as well?
i think not, or i have never found anyone.
Just remember you can get a high res mod up-to 1024x768 but there is no zoom in so you are looking at small ppl. If a 1600x1200 came out they would be real small. I need to ask the Dev's to make a zoom in feature for JA2 v1.13
Has anyone successfully used the patch on http://tron.homeunix.org/ja2/

The instructions are quite bad. I really want to play this windowed.

I'm getting Error Exception: Initialising libraries failed
I have added this to the .ini
data_dir = C:/Program Files (x86)/GOG.com/Jagged Alliance 2/Data/

I'm still running Windows XP, but from what I've read the problem might be the Program Files directory in Vista and W7.
Perhaps running it as admin does the trick.
If not, try installing the game to a different directory (/Games) and try again.
Cant find creature. Went down mine and went looking for queen, chamber found but no queen. Where the heck is she?

You have to wait for the bugs to surface before you can go kill off the queen, you'll get a message saying that the miners are getting attacked when they do.
