Hello all,

I just got around to installing JA2: Unfinished Business after buying it in the recent 'pay what you want sale', and the first thing I noticed was that the installer was a bit different from the one that ran on the other games I had installed from GoG. Anyway, once it installed I exited the installer and checked that the icon had been placed on my desktop (which it had), but then I noticed that the icon was also different from the normal style of gog shortcut which can other games such as JA2 used.

As such, I was wondering if it was possible to either;

A) Find a 'normal' icon for the game so that it fits with the rest of my GoG shortcuts or...
B) Be able to create a custom short-cut icon

I tried doing it like I normally do for having an image representing a folder, but apparently it has to be a special icon file and having plain old image won't work. I realise this is pretty pedantic, but I was wondering if anyone could help anyway. I've attached an image of my desktop to explain what I mean for those who aren't sure what I'm babbling about

The round icon is part of the updated installers (versions 2.x.x.x), and GOG.com is planning on updating all their installers by April 2013 (or thereabout). If you don't mind waiting, I think I still have the old installer somewhere, so I could upload that icon for you, but in ~12 hours.
I think there was also a suggestion of gog providing both icons with the installer, so you would be able to choose which one you want, not sure if they have implemented that one or not.
As for why you can't use any image, it's because you have to use a .ico file for the shortcut, or a .ico embedded in a dll file, and an image file is neither. You may be able to find a jpg to ico converter though.

Oh, that would explain it then. No need for the original icon though, I found a website called http://iconverticons.com/ which allows you to convert images into .ico files and just grabbed a simple image of the original cover of JA2: Unfinished Business. At first it had the Administrator shield covering up about a third of the image, but if you un-tick run as admin and then re-change the icon to the same image then it works fine.

Thanks for the explanation though!
Dang, the new installers are now quite ugly and even more simplified. Not liking it, but it doesn't matter what I like. XD
