Hi all
Just donwloaded JA2 from GOG and Im a little confused with instructions on versions.
I'd like to install the JA 2 1.13 mod, but it seems to ask that this been down on a JA2 1.06 install.
However the GOG JA2 install tells me its pacthed already to JA 1.12.
So my question is can i jjust install JA 2 1.13 over 1.12?
I installed 1.13 over the GOG version, and it worked fine.
Follow this link
Then download the latest single-click installer ("JA2 1.13 3287 exe SVN@1205 Full" (89MB))
You need to install it to your JA2 directory, it will overwrite some files. There are some instructions on this website, as well as many helpful people!
Thanks Andy, I will be installing today. Thats a great forum you linked to!
Gosh the amount of huge mods created for JA2 is incredible.

I know, it's kinda amazing really, given how old the game is.
Not sure how much of this you'd see with modern games in 10+ years.
Thanks much for the link Andy! Was wondering about the patch myself, works great!
Is the 1.13 upgrade / mod significantly worth it vs. vanilla?
I'd recommend playing vanilla first.
It's still an amazing game, and once you've played through it with 1.12, you'll appreciate the differences more.
1.13 adds more complexity to the game, especially with camouflage, load bearing equipment, various interface additions and lots more.
There's also the rather infamous drassen attack (which even now I disable), which would annihilate a newbie (I got destroyed even after knowing what I was getting myself into).
So if you've played it normally, and are looking to increase the challenge or just to have tons of guns to play with, then it's definitely worth it.
1.13 is pretty nice since it adds tons of things without changing drastically the gameplay. And yeah, I too would recommend to deactivate the infamous "Drassen Attack"; either that, or you will have to hide your entire squad in a small building with only one opening and lure the enemies in, hoping they don't just grenade you (although at this point of the game enemies should not carry grenades and RPGs, you never know).

oh yeah! Thanx! im new into jagg2 i patched 113.. i receve an fcking attak! a small house save my squad!
I decided to try the V1.13 but I see that disabling the Drassen attack may be a good idea. I do not see the option in disabling it though. I have looked at the beginning of setting up the game options as well as the hige list of options while in the game. Where do you disable the drassen attack?
Thanks!

Enter the "Data-1.13" folder and you should see a file named "Ja2_Options.ini". Open that file and scroll down until you see this:

;************************************************************************************************ ********** ********************
; Strategic Events on/off
;************************************************************************************************************* ****************
; Can queen send troops to reinforce Drassen like she says she's going to in the Meanwhile...?
STRATEGIC_EVENT_SEND_TROOPS_TO_DRASSEN = TRUE

Change the TRUE to FALSE and the Drassen attack is off. :)
I haven't updated the mod for a while, in the version I have its just over halfway down the document. The current version may have a different layout, so keep an eye out for that last line if it does.

You can alter the the other stuff as you please. The file usually notes if you should keep certain values of options within a certain degree, just remember to back up the file if you decide to mess around with to much stuff.
