Hey everyone! I have looked around in FAQs, the manual and around the Internet and I can't find an answer to this supposedly simple question: what does it mean when a merc's portrait is lined in yellow? I only see it happen when they're in stealth mode, so I figured it meant "this merc has not been spotted"... but enemy action often contradicts this idea (they still shoot "yellow" mercs).

The other strange thing is how it only becomes yellow if you *move* a merc. And sometimes it goes yellow *while* moving, and then disappears as the merc stops.

Thinking about it now, I also noticed a blue outline in "real time" mode when a merc is moving. Uh... Could this yellow outline just mean "merc is currently in movement, trying to be stealthy"?

OK, I get a yellow bar around the portrait if you're moving while in stealth, a blue one if you're crawling (not sure if that's just in stealth). Basically it's indicating you're doing stuff in stealth.

What that doesn't mean, and I think is the mistake that you're making, is that your merc is hidden. That's totally unrelated. It's just an indication as to what you're doing, it doesn't mean that they've successfully avoided the notice of the enemy.

So being in stealth, you get some visual tips that you're in that state, however the enemy might still have spotted you.

Looks like it. I played some more after posting this and indeed finally noticed that's all it is. Good to know since I was basing tactics off a wrong idea here :).
Thanks for the confirmation!
