I just purchased JA2 and it will not run on my PC. I try to start it using the EXE and when it starts to load it crashes and gives me a message saying JA2 has stopped working. Can someone please help me get this game going? Its my favorite game and Id like to play it tonight. Here are my Specs:

Intel i7
16GB RAM
Windows 7 Pro 64bit
Two Geforce GTX 780s in SLI (I tried it with and without SLI with no success either way)
3TB HDD
Try to start it via shortcut (either on your desktop or in start menu). If it doesn't help, right click on shortcut/game.exe and select "Run as Administrator". Also, try different compatibility modes - right-click the game's shortcut, go to Properties -> Compatibility.

Ive tried all of that but none of it worked. Tech Support sent a bunch of stuff to try and none of it worked. Not the drivers, Direct x not my video cards running single or SLI with two, I have tried everything. Ive installed the 1.13 mod and that didnt even help. I dont know what to do and Im dying to play one of my all time favoite games again. I had it installed on a machine running vista and it worked fine but not on my new computer.
If you have Geforce Experience installed, try to uninstall it.

That was unsuccessful as well. Anything else I can try?

I have a very similar setup to you, and JA2 runs just fine, and without any compatibility settings needed. What you have not stated is where you have the game installed, and what security software you have running. Under no circumstances install games (of any kind) inside Windows protected folders (Program Files etc.), and always temporarily disable security programs like antivirus while playing games, especially if you are having issues with them, or while troubleshooting. With the possible exception of online multiplayer, there is no reason to have other programs running while playing games, and certainly not single-player games.

I created a folder that I named GAMEs and thats where I installed the game. Also I am not running any security sofware. I have no clue whats going on and niether does Tech Support. They suggest I get a refund or swap for another game LOL.
dmn, thats kinda bad... I love the games too, bought them as soon as they came out on cd...
JA1/JA2 JA2:UB
and i could have sworn the wildfire was also on somekind of cheap release on cd in my country, but i cant find the package ...

I just bought JA2; UB and JA2: wildfire here on GOG

already bought JA1 and JA -deadlygames as soon as i created my account on GOG

as fas as i can see theres no real problem on good ol xp...

i still have to check alot of games on win7 HP 64bit

i am not a techguy but i think (dunno 4sure) that the 64bit version is the part that messes up the games, but the 32 bit was not available, so the 64bit was the most common to buy, off ocuorse i always buy english games and videos etc etc ect, (i dont want my games in dutch) and the windows is always english... so no translations for me for anything into dutch.

I guess i will have to take the time a check what will run on my win7 cause until now 25% doesnot work, i think because its usually graphics mess ups , the videodrivers/direct x are the ones messing my games.
Mostly the game graphics fall in blocks (fallout 1/2 original even the fallout collctiuon is a graphical mess even udner win xp the graphics mess up i have to use the mouse to 'scrub' the graphics togetehr or i just click the setting in fallout causing a fullscreen popup ingame closing taht has refreshed my screen.

...................??? i have it also i think, win7 keeps nagging with it if i close the icon in the bar to the right (the one which also holds the back to desktop button(somehow the mickeysoft guys decided it should be right in the new versions in stead of good old left)
its gone but the little blighter pops up again after a few seconds, i hate that thing, funny part: it is not needed cause it says that i dont have anything that will require it yet it is still there it annoying)

thanks for the info i will try it maybe i am lucky and maybe it will work for me , but i am usaully a very unlucky guy :D

I uninstalled and reinstalled all my drivers and the Geforce Experience software and anything that was recommended that I try and it just wouldnt work. I never had any problems on the old computer I had that ran on Windows 7 32 bit so I think you are right. After trying everything GOG suggested I get a refund and after looking up my payment info they gave my refund to me. I gotta say that they done a good job trying to help me and then issuing a refund. No other company offers that. I know it was only 5.99 USD but they take pride in what they offer and what they do. i would suggest this site everyone and anyone looking for classic games. I love this site and will forever be a member. Now I see X-Wing and Tie Fighter are on here! Im a happy guy. Hope I have no trouble with any others. If it is this 64bit windows I will be up the creek without a paddle. LOL.
