Hi y'all,

so I reinstalled Jade Empire and ran into [url=https://www.gog.com/forum/jade_empire_special_edition/any_stuttering_problems]stuttering issue, with the game being very stuttery and janky even though frame rates were high. And since I don't like being forced to reboot, I made a fix for the problem.

Download:
https://bitbucket.org/fk/jade-empire-stutter-fix/downloads

Installation:
- Extract the contents of this archive (in particular `d3d9.dll`) into your
Jade Empire installation directory, next to `JadeEmpire.exe`.
- Run the included `vcredist_x86.exe` installer to install the
*Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 x86 Redistributable*. You may already have it
installed in which case the installer will do nothing.

I hope someone else finds this useful.

Thanks! Made this playable for me on Origin. I was not about to reboot my PC every time I wanted to play.
Thanks so much! This worked perfectly and made the game run much smoother.
This is absolutely perfect and is the only fix that has worked for me. Thank you so much!
GOG should integrate this fix into the game.
Thank you so much for this fix, it works great.

I discovered it also works for Children of the Nile.

In order to get this to work I have to take the exe out of compatibility mode. When I do this the game runs great, but upon quitting the game my PC locks up with black screens and the only way out that I've found is a hard reboot. Any ideas?
Thank you so much! Rebooting wasn't working for me but your fix nipped the problem in the bud.

Hey Thanks.

Works great in Jade Empire and also fixes the same problem in Neverwinter Nights 2. Which uses same base game engine.

I really wonder why they use some Windows startup related variable in their animation timing.

It actually fixes this very problem with the floating point numbers for the frame timer? Holy fuck, I've been waiting for a good fix for years. Unfortunately, I have only the Steam (and Origin, I think) versions of Jade Empire. I hope it'll work all the same.
Hi, Just a PSA, this works for Deadly Premonition as well but you cant use dpfix anymore.
Great fix! Many thanks!
