I'd check that you've followed the instructions on the first post of this thread - I've managed to find the files in question OK.

This fix helped me, but unfortunately I can't use reshade with it. I tried to figure out how to use 2 d3d9.dll files but nothing worked.
Hey, thanks for making this. I'm not sure if anyone's still reading this thread in 2019 but I'm having trouble getting this fix working and would appreciate some help. I put the d3d9.dll in the same directory as JadeEmpire.exe but when I try to run JadeEmpire.exe the game just doesn't load. As in, just nothing happens. It doesn't even display an error message. But as soon as I remove d3d9.dll from the directory the game runs again. I do already have an up to date version of VC Redist installed. Does anyone know what the issue could be or how to get it working?

Firstly, did you extract the whole 'stutter fix' content into your Jade Empire folder or just the d3d9.dll? If you extracted the whole archive did you try running the included `vcredist_x86.exe` installer to see if it makes a difference? I know you said that your version is up-to-date but it may be worth a try.

Thanks for the suggestion! I only put the d3d9.dll in the folder. I just tried extracting the whole archive but it didn't seem to make a difference.

When I try running the vcredist_x86.exe installer I get the error '0x80070666 - Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue. To configure or remove the existing version of this product, use Add/Remove Programs on the Control Panel.'

Not sure what to suggest if that didn't work, however, you previously mentioned that the game does not start for you with the fix installed so maybe this thread will help instead;

or other ideas can be found over at Steam;

Hope something here helps you.
Just wanted to say thank you for posting the fix, worked perfectly!

Khalan: Thank you so much for this fix, it works great.

I discovered it also works for Children of the Nile.
Yup - still works to fix the stuttering problem for CotN in 2020!

Woo for great workarounds!

Did you just copy the files to the parent game directory?

fk.: Hi y'all,

so I reinstalled Jade Empire and ran into [url=https://www.gog.com/forum/jade_empire_special_edition/any_stuttering_problems]stuttering issue, with the game being very stuttery and janky even though frame rates were high. And since I don't like being forced to reboot, I made a fix for the problem.

Download:
https://bitbucket.org/fk/jade-empire-stutter-fix/downloads

Installation:
- Extract the contents of this archive (in particular `d3d9.dll`) into your
Jade Empire installation directory, next to `JadeEmpire.exe`.
- Run the included `vcredist_x86.exe` installer to install the
*Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 x86 Redistributable*. You may already have it
installed in which case the installer will do nothing.

Source:
Can be found at https://bitbucket.org/fk/jade-empire-stutter-fix. Builds with VS2015.

I hope someone else finds this useful.
The provided link doesn't work anymore as of August 2020 due to some changes with bitbucket apparently. If there's another way to download this it'd be much appreciated.

Hi. Does someone still have the files somewhere cause the link is dead.

It's still available at archive.org. This forum breaks links, so just copy and paste it. The file is also saved there, but I couldn't post direct link.
