Only recently did I discover this statement by 3D Realms:

"We at 3D Realms spoke with Voidpoint today and they reaffirmed their commitment to honoring their original statement, including the donation to The Trevor Project and sensitivity training. However, the soap bottle will not be removed.

The use of the word "f*gbag" in an area that was inaccessible without hacking the game, and was added by one developer without approval from anyone else, was removed a few days ago. We once again apologize for this text as it does not reflect the values of 3D Realms or Voidpoint.

Jokes at the expense of marginalized communities will not be present in future games published by 3D Realms. However, a portion of our community made it loud and clear they felt removing "Ogay" was censorship and should be protected by free speech. Voidpoint wanted to listen and we respected this decision."

It may be this is already known, but as I didn't see it in other posts, I'm assuming it's not. Perhaps it is nothing to fret over, but I thought it worthwhile at least being aware of. I'm highly skeptical but, again, maybe it's nothing.

It is not the reversal on censorship in Ion Fury that I was unsure about. Read the post and title again, I am referring to the first sentence, of the last paragraph.

Here: "Jokes at the expense of marginalized communities will not be present in future games published by 3D Realms."

I don't see the issue. That's probably more focused on the "fagbag" thing than the bottle.

Honestly, I don't know why it's so bad that these guys aren't in the business of insulting people. Whole damned kerfluffle was due to a rogue employee putting in an insult as a "joke" anyway.

If it is just limited to stuff like the "fagbag" thing, then I think it's fine. But we don't know yet how extreme this future censorship will be, it could possibly go beyond even the small things - like the "Ogay" bottle. My point is it's just something to be aware of.

I think they'll be fine if they lean more on the side of DN3D than DNF.

Honestly, DNF was just a dud all the way around. People say it sucked, but I found it so... PEDESTRIAN.

Not only was the gameplay a second-rate Halo knockoff, but none of the attempts at humor landed... And that's not even mentioning the hive, which just didn't fit and felt squicky. I think 3DR is good if they don't do anything like that again...

I agree with it being a Halo knockoff, the game played like a clunky console shooter.
I will never purchase another 3D Realms published game again

I'm waiting to see how this turns out myself, before deciding to take such action as well. It all depends on how extreme the censorship is. I don't preorder games for this reason, as well as others. Ion Fury was an exception, however, I bought it while it was in Early Access on Steam - before it was available here... Or perhaps, before I realized it was available here. Not really sure if it was on Steam for a while before coming here too, that's how it usually is for some of these games anyway

Ok, good to know. I will never buy something from the company that forcefully brainwashes people and donates money for similar brainwashing.

Thinking that "Ogay" soap name is somehow a joke "at the expense" of the gay people is idiocy at it's finest.

Never gonna let that baseless accusation go, are you?

If you ignore all evidence I provided that doesn't make my accusation baseless.
Jesus, you're still going on about it.

The "mandatory training" was a clumsy tongue-in-cheek statement, as confirmed by the devs.

"This regrettably led to a public apology, a donation to clear the air, and a claim of sensitivity training occurring sometime within the near future. The latter being tongue-in-cheek as their ‘sensitivity training’ is the incident as a whole."
