Hello,

thanks for the good launcher, it works with the nGlide very good.
I use Version 2.0 for Windows 7 Prof. 64 Bit.

Now, if i exit the Game, it always crashes.

My questions are now, do i have to use the nGlide-Wrapper only installed to Windows, use the Launcher v2.0 and then also must use the splash.exe from Mr.Blade?
Or How is the right combination, it is not really clear to read out on the 4 pages for me.

And then another question, does the Multiplayer through Internet work? I see 2 Servers in the game and never a running match on it.

I used both. The new Launcher and the new splash.exe.

As for Multilayer, no idea.

Mr.Blade: Here's my new Splash.exe, containing a CPU Patch (DDraw Wrapper by Aqrit) and a 3DFX Wrapper. These things will be installed automatically unless they are.

Download: bit.ly/19FT41R

Just copy (or download) the Splash.exe in your Interstate '76 and\or Nitro Riders game directory, same file works for both.

With the newest version of the launcher, and with the Splash.exe, and by following all the posted workarounds, I still can't get this game to work - does anyone know of any other solutions for getting the game to work on Win7 64bit?

Blandsman: Sorry to the mods for bumping this thread, but I'm having an issue with the 2.0 launcher with dgvoodoo in the I76 main folder. I keep getting "Failed to initialize 3D hardware acceleration" and then it just says that I76 has stopped responding. Someone else posted the same thing in this thread a while back, but nobody even replied. Is it my configurations for dgvoodoo or is it something deeper in my ATI Radeon HD 6950?
Yeah, got the same. Game works in software mode, but get this error with every hardware mode, be it DirectX or glide.

Win 7 32bit, Radeon R7 260X

Too bad GOG didn't have 30 day guarantee when i bought i76 from them because this is one game I would ask for a refund on. It is too glitchy on a modern PC to be fit for sale, IMO. I guess Activision saw money to be made and didn't give a F if it ran properly or not.

I'm trying to run this off of a USB on a PC where I don't have admin rights, using this launcher it seems close to working but then I get a "insert CD" message, any ideas?

Someone @winehq ( https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=21924 ) hacked the executable to prevent the broken cpu speed detection.

I've put the files here, but on linux it seems to work pretty well, i didn't try yet on windows:

Nevermind that didn't help on windows. I've tested now.

The best for me is to run the game with -glide (WITHOUT the launcher, reinstalling the game with a clean folder), d3d i just get crashes and in software mode i have those wheels problems, which are fixed more or less with cpu grabber.

Weird thing that it works pretty well on linux (not perfectly, taurus still cannot pass the bridge on the second mission and commits suicide, yet he drives 100 times better than on windows with software rendering).

In summary,

1)try the game normally.
If this doesn't work or you get slow cars:

2)install the launcher (in the right folder), and try software rendering with the cpu grab thing (for me it worked near 80%, it may be different for you).

3) if it still does not work (or you don't want this ugly hack), try glide or d3d from the launcher

4) if it still does not work, uninstall the launcher and the game, uninstall the game (+ clean the folder), reinstall the game, make a shortcut of i76.exe, add "-glide" and try it.

For me 2) and 4) work fine.

Cool, I'm going to try all this out. Been hankering to play some I76, but it's compatibility with windows is a bit lacking...

This was the only fix that worked for me, and it worked *really* well, but since GOG unbundled the two games, I can't get it to work properly... is there something we can do to fix this? Am I the only one having this issue? I love the Interstate '76 games and wanted to play them, but they're just broken without this launcher, and I also don't feel like creating a freaking shortcut just to use the "-glide" workaround...

I had trouble with the launcher until i realized that it is trying to install into Drive:/Interstate 76'/Interstate 76'. In other words it made a new directory in my interstate directory. After that I uninstalled everything, then reinstalled interstate 76, then nitropack. The I ran the launcher install and just let it install in the root of the drive, then the files were properly installed. After that configured glide and set my resolution to 1920x1080 and used nvidia inspector to limit FPS to 30. Now it works perfect other than a few sprite issues when blowing up creepers ( hitting escape and going back fixes it temporarily ) and there is a strange audio issue with Nitro missions, but other than that it is working fantastic. Best $6 i ever spent.

For reference, I'76 was released in 1997, and relevant CPU speeds were about 300 MHz at the time. This seems useful information for using CPUGrabber, and thus useful information to add to the first post.

So far, I've only been able to get Software mode working on Windows 10.

Tried #4, the -glide shortcut; that worked. Not sure how to change the resolution from there, though.
