I've had a recurring bug in Mission 4 that's happened 3 times in a row.

First, it takes several seconds for the music to actually start up. Then a few minutes into the mission, the music starts skipping and starting over, until finally it's just playing the first 5 seconds of the music over and over again.

I don't know if this is related to the music bug, but my last attempt at mission 4, late into the mission when the looping was really bad, my shield and hull indicator stopped working. It just stayed fixed at 100%, then all of a sudden my ship started blowing up, with the HUD still saying my armor and shields were at 100%.

Hi MischiefMaker!

Are you comfortable sharing your system specs? If you would like to email a DxDiag report to contact@codexworlds.com we can look in to what is going on.

My initial thought is that you may be reaching a performance bottleneck causing some strange issues. We have not seen this in our own testing. Have you tried lowering the Graphics Quality settings at all? What sort of framerates are you seeing?

I haven't seen any frame drops. I'm running the game at 1920x1080 with ultra settings (except Anti Alias is turned to 0)

Here are my specs:

Windows 7 64 bit
Intel Core i5-2500K @ 3.30 GHz
16GB Ram
Nvidia GeForce GTX 960
Sound Blaster Recon3D PCIe
Intel SSD
MischiefMaker,

A couple of our programmers have suggested that this could be an IRQ issue in Windows, possibly related to the Sound Blaster Recon3D. Do you have on-board sound, or a USB headset device you can try out?

Your machine specs should not be reaching performance limits, so that is likely not the cause. The only time we have seen a similar bug has been on lower end machines.

Also, have you experienced any other weird glitches in other games recently, especially Unity games?

No, I play a lot of Unity games like Galak-Z, Ziggurat, Satellite Reign, War for the Overworld, and this is the only one that has any glitches right now. I don't have any other sound cards to listen to, either.

Actually I played some earlier missions again today and I realized that the looping music bug is happening for all the levels, it's just the level 4 music starts with a big fanfare so it's more noticeable when it loops.
Thanks MischiefMaker,

We are going to look in to this, I'll keep you posted!
Hi MischiefMaker!

**UPDATE: Patch 1.0.5 is live now with this fix**

We identified an issue with the audio playback in Mission 4 leading to some weird behavior across varying machines. It has since been fixed. An updated build with this fix (and others) has been supplied to our friends at GOG, and should be available for download in the near future.

Thank you very much for your report on this. We have a lot of pride in our music, and were very disturbed when we realized there was an issue!

In regards to your initial report about being defeated on Mission 4 with 100% Shields/Armor: I'm sorry I didn't catch this earlier, but this is intended based on the mission objectives. There are a couple of missions where certain objectives must be met before the time runs out. In Mission 4, "Maximum Ride", you must upgrade Freedom Strike to level 5 in order to win. When you fail to do so, the mission fails and initiates the explosion of Freedom Strike. A cheeky reviewer has referred to this as your "starship being made out of hot suicide." We embrace the feedback. Hah!

Thanks again. Happy Wrog hunting!
