Well, after ruling some space empires, I'd like to fly some spaceships too. I've read some reviews about IWAR. The realistic physics sound quite interesting, but how difficult is it? In general, I'm not very good at action games.

And are the IWAR games mission-based or open (like Freelancer, for example)?

I-war 1 is mission based with branching story paths (the Defiance expansion is linear though), I-war 2 is free roam. Personally I prefer the first for the strong narrative.

The inertia will seem confusing at first but you'll get used to it. Fortunately you have rear-facing weapons as well.

I-WAR is quite unforgiving sometimes. That isn't to say it's not fun... just... CNV-301 is NOT a starfighter she doesn't take kindly to being treated like one.

She's also far more fragile than you think due to the way shields work in the game.

But once you figure out the foibles of the ship you'll have it dancing all over the place and causing mayhem like a Corvette can.
Your biggest beef with I-War may be the scripts that either break or kick in late or have strange random screw-ups. This annoys me to no end, but still it's not bad enough to shelve the game.

Also, you MUST play it with a joystick, keyboard+mouse is next to unplayable.
On the other side of the game being difficult is that shooting and using weapons is generally easy as the cannons track their targets, though it is more accurate and effective when targets are close.
If you're used to other space sims then you have to unlearn what you have learned, which is the hardest thing to do.

Once you're used to the I-War flight model, then going back to the WW1 dogfighters in space flight model of other sims will seem very limited. :)

Eh, I finished IW2 with a keyboard. I think if you get used to it, it's no more challenging than with a joystick.

Same with IW1 I guess.

In that case, I bow to you! XD
