I War 2 runs too fast on my system, almost like its sped up 2 or 3 times as fast. The cut scenes play fine but anything utilizing the 3D game engine is sped up.

I've tried the following

--All forms of compatibility mode on the executable and on the shortcut.

--underclocking my CPU to a lower speed

--Manually changing affinity to a single CPU core. I went thru all 4 and no dice.

Anyone else having this issue or know of a workaround?

System Specs:

AMD FX-4170@4.5 ghz
ASUS Sabertooth 990FX
8gigs 1866 DDR3
1TB 7200 RPM SATA
Creative X-Fi
Geforce GTX 670 2 gig

Windows 7

Never experienced what you said, but I haven't got that ultrafast rig you have. :)

Have you tried playing it with v-sync turned on?

Yep, forgot that one..Its actually much worse with Vertical Sync off. Enabling V-Sync helped some though. With V-Sync on its about 2 to 3 times too fast...with it off its more like 4 to 5 times.

Hmm, this is serious.
In the graphicsoptionsmenu, is there the option to turn DirectX 8 on?
If not you have to enable it in the flux.ini, before you make changes make a backup of flux.ini because if it becomes corrupted, I-War 2 will not work.

This is important, and I learned it the hard way. Also, switching to DX8 mode greatly improves the graphics, especially the LOD.

Here is what you will be looking for in the flux.ini:

[icOptions]
directx8_available = 1
use_directx8 = 1
Okay, well I seemed to have figured it out. I had it under program files but I uninstalled and moved to directly under my C:\ drive and for whatever reason that seemed to fix it. Thanks guys for all of your help, I really appreciate it.
That's probably due to the game storing config info in its own folder, which is by default in program files. That was common in games developed a long while ago. This is not a problem under XP, or 98 where you generally had to run as an admin, but in Vista or 7 it's a protected folder, and programs are not allowed to write to it, unless you give them complete admin rights, which of course isn't recommended.

Yes, GOG should take notice of this and perhaps change the default installpath, cause sofar there have been issues with this with several different games. I never had this problem because I install everything outside Program Files.
I know there hasn't been a post on this topic for a couple months but I am having the same problem and none of the above solutions have helped. The game runs insanely fast and it just isn't playable. The videos are fine though.

Have you run it as administrator and turn off UAC?

Just tried that, unfortunately it didn't work :(

I don't know if you have already tried that, but did you bind I-War 2 to one CPU core?
Ya, I tried that, no luck.

Does anyone have a solution for this, I am having the same issue. Looking at flux.log, it looks like the flux system does not understand what CPU the game is running on and thus is running super quick. It's not a directx problem as far as I can see, but I am assuming it is a multiprocessor problem. I've tried all solutions in this thread, and still cannot get it to work. Anyone have any fresh ideas?
I bought the boxed copy back in 2002 and played this.

Today, I just re-installed it from the original CDs on Win7 64-bit. It works fine, not running too fast like described here. My rig is an AMD Phenom II X6 1055T 6-core with an AMD Radeon 6950.

The only problem is now I absolutely s**k at the combat :)
