This is one of those games that needs to be added to the DEP / Data Execution Prevention filter list to work.

If you did that and it still doesn't start, try this.

( this is the same fix as the one for Unreal, covered here : https://www.gog.com/forum/unreal_series/unreal_gold_general_protection_fault_and_dep_fixing_a_fix )

- Open the registry editor
- Find HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\AppCompatFlags\Layers
- Find the entry for the IWar2 executables that you added in the DEP Filter before
- Check if they have something set like "HIGHDPIAWAREDisableNXShowUI", yes that is without spaces ( and the reason why DEP filter is not working .. yet )
- If so, put a space between these words ( DisableNXShowUI is the important one )
- Save the entry

It should work then. It shouldn't be necessary to disable DEP completely.

Isn't it so that if you don't install games in protected folders like '\program files\' you should be okay and never need to disable DEP?

At least I never needed to disable it for any game.
Not sure, maybe ? :)

I never install anything into "Program Files" if i can help it.
To prevent spamming the C: Drive, and to keep things more organized.

My sincerest thanks. I've had this game for years and gave up on switching DEP off, rebooting, playing, switch on DEP for all apps, because the exclusion doesn't work.

Got back to the game this week and saw this post. I can play now with DEP on like it's 1997 :)
Awesome, perfect yeah this fixed the FLUX: [unknown] LINKER: The package "ifrontendgui" is dependent on package "igame", which failed to load or link issue for me.
