Not sure if anyone is checking this board, but this is making me tear my hair out.
I played I-War years ago using dgVoodoo (back with my boxed copy from old childhood times), figured I'd buy the GOG version and give it another whirl.
I'm finding something odd with the included glide wrapper. It works fine for Defiance - the 3dfx splash screen shows up and the game is working properly in 3dfx mode.
But in the original game, it just doesn't seem to launch, when both seem configured identically. No splash screen, and the game clearly isn't running in glide mode (low resolution, and glide specific effects like the directional thrusters on ships aren't showing).
Anyone seen this before?
ETA:
It'd been a long time coming with this 6 year old broken install so I reinstalled Windows. Figured I'd give it another try on the other side.
Now Defiance won't even launch in Glide mode.
I -think- I've narrowed down the problem... I was trying to manually force the game into Glide mode using the -b -16 command line args, and that wasn't working. I found out through miscellaneous exploring that I can't even activate the -lagrange command line argument... Some reason the game isn't accepting them at all, which would explain why Glide mode can't activate.
*sigh* No idea what could be causing this, no idea who to ask either.
ETA again: SOLVED.
It turns out that for some reason the I-War EXE was not accepting command line arguments. After I disabled the compatibility mode (specifically the OS one), I was able to manually activate arguments. The GOG launcher still didn't work, but I've been able to get it to work with a custom shortcut (also letting me activate the manual lagrange option, which I always liked).
No idea why that was happening to me. But I've been enjoying playing again - already played all the way up to Under New Ownership. I forgot how hard WEP Advanced 2 was, hahaha.
