Hi guys, I just started a new EOC game and have gone through the prologue. Went to Lucretias Base, did the training run through the rings and when I dock with the base, I cannot save the game. It accepts a save after I hit enter, but when I navigate out and back to load game, there is no save.

Any ideas?

Ok, FYI in case someone has the same problem.

I found an older GOG version of Iwar 2 and installed it - 2.0.0.6 This version let me save the game, where Version 2.1.0.9 will not.

Strange. I would have thought that it maybe has something to do with Admin rights or being installed under c:\program files (or whatever) instead of ist own Folder (like c:\games). OTOH, with those old games, you never know.
I'm suffering from the same save issue where can i get 2.0.0.6 ?

You would have to ask support for it. Where do you currently have the game installed, and have you tried running it as admin?

It seems we're running a different numbering system, but I have this exact same issue as well. I can save the game, go to load it and the save list is empty.

I've tried naming the saves, not naming the saves. I have enabled Run as Admin, I have enabled Compatibility mode for XP sp2.

The game is installed under C > GOG Games > Independence War 2.

The version I am running is 14.8, which is what GOG gave me yesterday when I downloaded it normally (did not try to select any specific version, if that's even an option.)
I'm absolutely clueless on this at this time.

Lately, a lot of people are coming up on this forum, Steam and on i-war2.com with this issue and so far, nothing was able to solve it.

I really need more information:

Which OS are you running? Win XP/7/8/10?
Do you run any Antivirus or Firewall program that could interfere with the game and have you tried disabling it?

My best guess at this time is that a security feature in a third-party program is blocking write access to the game's directory, because on my forum a user with Win7 couldn't save but I can save fine on Win7 here.

That's referring to GOG's standalone installer version, not the game version. I might think there is some problem with the Galaxy install, but schmatzler said Steam people also are having problems.

Try creating a folder called "saves" inside of the game folder. According to another user on our forums this is missing in the latest GOG version. :)

I had the same problem and I can confirm this as the fix.
Thanks for the hint, man! :)
Thank you so much for this fix, had just the same issue and it solved mine too.
That's quite a recent reply! Does that mean that the current GOG release has this problem? Has anyone raised a support request with GOG? If not, could someone who encountered the problem please do so?
GOG does not offically support the game on Windows 7 but that could change IF the problems were solved.
