Right click on the desktop shortcut (or the icon on the start menu) and make sure the Run as Administrator option is enabled

Hey people.

I'm having this exact same problem. I start a game and it goes to a small black box in the top left corner and that's it. Run as administrator is, as far as I can tell enabled. It has a little shield symbol next to it.

So WTF. nothign I do makes it work.

I've got Windows 7 and a good machine to run it.

As shown here, it's a check box, so you just need to make sure it's ticked,

That's for User Account Control.

If you still have problems you could try reinstalling the game into a folder outside of Program Files eg games\IWD
