So I was playing this recently after starting over with a whole new party on regular difficulty (deleted all my saves from my previous playthrough) when my house suffered a sudden 1-second blackout (incliment weather; wasn't a bad storm, for that matter). I don't know if this is the cause or what, but EVERY TIME I try to enter the Fell Wood zone (when you're supposed to deal with Limha to rescue the children), the game crashes. I don't know if that's what happened or what, but I have no idea how to fix it; this never happened before. Previous parts of the game work just fine up until this point. I don't know if that file in the game got corrupted or such, but I just don't understand why THIS area suddenly won't work. Tried looking it up but this doesn't seem to have happened to anyone else. I'm not sure about the whole system I have but I can tell you this.
1) OS is Windows 8, fully updated.
2) This is the original installation of the game from GoG.com prior to the launch of GoG Galaxy. Otherwise, the game still works fine.
3) No other signs of issues with the game.

Any ideas?

If it had happened to me and if the error is occurring with the latest save game, what I would do, is try to get to that area continuing from a previous save. That is just to check if it is the save game or the game itself that has the problem.

If it is the save, continuing from a previous save is probably the only solution.

If it is the game and I really did not want to use Galaxy, I would copy the save games to another location (just in case), uninstall the game completely, delete any remaining files if any, reinstall, and copy the save games back in place.

One question, just in case: had you reached that area in your previous playthrough before starting over?

Yes, I completed the game in both regular & Heart of Fury mode. This has NEVER happened before.

As I said, it was JIC, try the save games (could also be a fully new game and use cheats to get ASAP to the entrance of the area with problems) and let us know how it goes.
Okay, it's been a while, but between birthdays (including my own), holidays and various family illnesses, I FINALLY got the chance to test this out completely. Apparently, it WAS my previous Launcher-based copy of the game that was the issue. I decided to uninstall that version and reinstall it via GoG Galaxy and it appears to be working fine now.
