Hi all,

We've uploaded a new patch for Windows, a new DMG for Mac, and a new tarball for Linux that will update your Icewind Dale Enhanced Edition install to version 1.4.

Please download the update for your OS in order to have the latest and greatest version of the game :)

Some notes:

Applying the patch will clear out any mods that may be currently installed. You will need to install them again after patching the game.

Some of the fixes from this patch are not retroactive. For best results, it is recommended that you start a new game after applying the patch.

There was a large amount of fixes and updates in this patch, far too numerous to list here, so we've provided a link to the release notes here:

Thanks and have a nice day :)
Awesome. Thank you for the patch!
That's the prettiest patch note document I've ever seen :)

Good to see a lot of fixes!
I haven't run into most of these issues yet, but I sure don't want to start over.
Thanks, thanks, THANKS for this patch! Wow, they have restored the Elf Druid the original had! Now i have more than enough reason to begin considering to start playing the Enhanced Edition, instead of the original! Yay!

Still, though, the original is "god" to me compared to this enhanced remake...

Survival Guide to the North and Mastering Melee & Magic pdf files in extras and in game files are outdated . Because they released new versions of them :)

Still, the update should be listed in the changelog of the game's library entry.
By now the game has been updated to version 2.6.6.0 so this sticky really should be updated.

A changelog to the 2.6 version is still missing!

DubConqueror: A changelog to the 2.6 version is still missing!
The very top line in the change log simply says "Fixed the Comet spell to allow for projectile support." That's ONE item from the full 2.6 release notes Beamdog published. So it looks like someone tried to post release notes but screwed up a formatting code or something and they got truncated. BG and BG2 have the same issue with only a single line from the 2.6 patch notes showing.

So 2.6 release notes need to be fixed, and now 2.6.6 release notes need to be added. The last two patches really did fix a lot of issues, but they also made a few mechanical changes that players who are very familiar with the rules would want to be aware of.

At least the offline installers are up-to-date now (including both 2.5 > 2.6 and 2.6 > 2.6.6 standalone patches).
high rated
It has been a long while that GOG cared about changelogs on its forum (they may be under 'More' at the Offline Installer,
but typically lacking versions and one can not Cut&Paste).
So this is done by gamers in almost all cases (the rest may be devs showing their interest in GOG customers).

Normally there is one thread with all changelogs being sticky, but here it is a little mess - so next to this ancient thread
there is a forum thread by gamers for Updates 2.5.16.3 (10 May 2018) to Update 2.5.17 (21 Aug. 2018):
   o https://www.gog.com/forum/icewind_dale_series/changelog_1

The latest changelogs are quite big - and GOG forum is very limited (size and functionality) - and if someone cares
it is found easily on Steam:
   o https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/321800?updates=true

So the big 2.6 update is here:
   o https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/321800/view/5804552870192270807
GOG Offline installer: 2.5.17 (23121) => 2.6.5.0 (46474) of 20. April 2021

And of cause the latest 2.6.6 patch being shown here:
   o https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/321800/view/4757468488967628182
GOG Offline installer: 2.6.5.0 (46474) => 2.6.6.0 (47290) of 25. May 2021

The patch level shows the number of patches ... so the difference to 2.6 is huge (as well as the changelog).

P.S.: Engine for GNU/Linux still depending on no longer used libs by recent Ubuntu versions (incl. Focal = 20.04 LTS!)

The 32 bit executable is no longer existing, but the 64 bit version has the same missing dependencies
on 'libssl.so.1.0.0' and 'libcrypto.so.1.0.0' no longer supported by Eoan (Ubuntu 19.10 STS) onward ...
So Beamdog has still trouble to support Linux correctly.
If anyone gets error messages like this:
~~ vv
./IcewindDale: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcrypto.so.1.0.0: version `OPENSSL_1.0.0' not found (required by ./IcewindDale)
./IcewindDale: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libssl.so.1.0.0: version `OPENSSL_1.0.1' not found (required by ./IcewindDale)
./IcewindDale: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libssl.so.1.0.0: version `OPENSSL_1.0.0' not found (required by ./IcewindDale)
~~ ^^
one could create a directory 'game/linux64' and provide the two libs given above (e.g. from games
needing it but caring about a working game like Reassembly ... or from some ancient Ubuntu versions)
and add to the 'start.sh' script after the 'source support/gog_com.shlib' line:
~~ vv
# Added for Eoan+:
export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:${CURRENT_DIR}/game/linux64
~~ ^^
or similarly ...
