Yesterday after putting it off for ages, I finally got started in Icewind Dale. I didn't get too far, but I enjoyed what I played, and it all worked perfectly on my computer. I am using a Mac, but am running this by using Crossover Games.

So after getting Icewind Dale 2 thanks to the promo, I decided to go back and attempt to finish Icewind Dale 1 before moving onto the next game, but now whenever I start it up, I get this error message:

"An Assertion failed in ChDimm.cpp at line number 600
Programmer says: Unable to Open BIF:data\GUIfont.bif"

I thought that a file must of got corrupted, so I tried installing it again, but had the same problem. Any suggestions as to what I should try next?

Open the icewind.ini file and make sure that the directories mentioned under the [alias] section all point to your installation directory or one of the sub-directories.

Ah, I see the problem now. It was because I moved the game files to a different location, and then it didn't know where to find the files from. Thanks very much for the help!
