The guides I've seen online are incomplete when it comes to the endgame phase (after all the personal episodes are done), so here's a specific solution to getting the endings:

Ending #1 - generic bad ending:

- Have each character die in the endgame phase.

Ending #2 - good ending: player becomes watchdog for machines, lunar colonists survive and prepare for recolonizing Earth:

- Start with Nimdok.
- Log into the workstation using 1945 as password.
- Extend the bridge and log off.
- Go south on the bridge, use Summoning on the circle.
- Talk to Surgat, refuse to give him Entropy, but agree to use Compassion (no option to refuse). This will summon the Russian and Chinese supercomputers. Talk to them.
- Go back to the workstation screen then take the long way around (following the neural paths). On your way disable Id (use Compassion), Ego (use Forgiveness) and Super-Ego (use Clarity).
- Return to the circle.
- Invoke Entropy.

Ending #3 - AM joins with the Russian and Chinese computers, tortures lunar colonists:

- As in #2, but at the end give away Entropy instead of invoking it.

Ending #4 - AM is neutralized and Russian/Chinese computers take over, enslaved AM is allowed to decide how player is punished:

- As in #2, but only disable Ego (do not disable Id nor Super-Ego)

Ending #5 - player becomes watchdog for machines, but remnants of AM kill the lunar colonists:

- As in #2, but do not disable Ego (disable only Id and/or Super-Ego)

Ending #6 - Surgat as AM's servant kills Russian/Chinese computers, then punishes player

- As in #2, but give Entropy to Surgat when asked.

Ending #7 - player destroys Russian/Chinese computers but is told they "didn't earn mercy" by AM

- As in #2, but when Russian/Chinese computers appear and send you on your task, use Entropy on either of them.

Note 1: This requires you to have the various totems which are earned by beating the personal episodes with their "good" endings (basically, you have to overcome the personal faults of each character, avoid giving in to their vices, and avoid hurting yourself and others as much as possible). Theoretically endings 6 and 7 could be achieved only with Entropy and Summoning items (which are related to Ellen's and Ted's scenarios respectively), but I haven't tried that.

Note 2: Most endings end with the last character you played getting turned into a "great soft jelly thing" as punishment. This part is different for each character as they speak different parts of the original story ending.

Note 3: Supposedly other characters can guess the 1945 password (they're said to remember hearing it from Nimdok after they guess the random password wrong several times), but I've never managed to achieve that. If you want to see other characters' endings, use Nimdok to enter the password, let him get killed on electric shocks, then switch to the character you want and beat the game with them.

Note 4: You do NOT need the maximum (white) self-esteem rating in order to get the best ending, it just gives you more "hit points" which are used every time you get an electric shock from doing something wrong. I do not know if there's a minimum required rating for this, but you shouldn't have a problem unless you've blundered into the personal scenario traps (which could ruin your personal ending independently of the rating).

Note 5: I do not know what use are the various pillars related to the personal episodes. I've activated all of them and "lowered the power", but all I learned is that it's supposed to weaken the electric shocks - which you're not gonna suffer a lot of if you know what you're doing. Also some plot tidbits like Benny's wife. If anybody knows what else the pillars do, please let me know.

Well, that's it. Deactivating pillars should supposedly lower the damage characters take... only I'm pretty sure it doesn't work at all (or my game was bugged). It would make much more sense if it was required to disable Id and Superego to get most endings imho.
Can you achieve ending #2 with another character that isn't Nimdok or Ellen? The videos available in youtube only shows these two.

Any character will do for all endings as long as you extended the bridge (which only Nimdok can).

I noticed the other character always "guesses" that password is 1945 only if nimdok is already dead.

Also, there are some files under METAPHOR in the terminal which are "locked", i wonder if there is any way to access them or is it just a red herring.
