Ever since installing the HGTV DLC I'm having a whole host of problems with the game, which was previously pretty stable:

- HGTV achievements don't seem to unlock, no matter what I try (most prominent example is the one with the fireplace)
- Sometimes items can't be placed in the HGTV houses: the money is removed, but I don't get progress on the bar and the item doesn't show up. Prominent examples: chairs and sofas
- Items getting stuck: can't be placed down and I can't switch to tools. Only way to "fix" this is by force-closing the game and restarting it
- when trying to save the portfolio the game locks up and needs to be force closed
- trying to remove walls and sometimes the wall is still visible, but can't be knocked down, trying to paint it causes the colour to flicker between new and old
- some items don't show up in the proper categories, such as the new front doors: they can only be found by searching for the term "door"

I enjoy the new items and new gameplay, but the bugs are really frustrating, because I need to force close and restart the game at least once every session.

I hope these bugs can be fixed in a timely manner. I also used the ingame tool to report a few of them, but especially things like items not being placeable/locking up is hard to capture in a screenshot for the report. :/
Specifically about "Sometimes items cannot get placed" and "items get stuck": those items are chairs and tables.

You can place up to 8 in a single room without causing any problems. The moment you place a 9th, the entire thing breaks. You can pick up any of the items and move them to a different room, but you can neither place them in the same room again nor cancel the placement. If you try to place a new item of the same type, you will lose the money, but the item won't get placed.

It got to the point where, in order to complete a job to 100%, I had to build a wall to break the room in two, place the required items, then remove the wall.

Aside from the fat that this obviously ridiculous workaround isn't always possible, I have no idea how such an obvious bug didn't come out in QA: some of the HGTV jobs cause the bug literally in the first room, having 9 table/chair items already placed.

Same here, was trying to place a sofa in the first DLC house, and it bugged out crazy, wouldn't let me place the sofa inside, and pushed my out of bounds with the sofa in hands...

Today I tried demolishing the walls in my first office, and some of the walls just started wobbling visually, but didn't disappear; now I'm stuck with broken walls...

Hoping for a fix soon!!!

Somebody on Steam mentioned a patch 3 days ago, but there is no sign of it here.

I thought it was just me that got shoved out of the plot and into the road with that sofa!

:)

I also found out that I had to build walls around the walls I was about to demolish (thereby splitting up rooms, which is the supposed solution to all problems, it seems ...). Then demolished the walls, then put walls around helper walls to demolish them again.

What an interesting afternoonish 10min that was...

Keeping fingers crossed!

I am having all the same issues you just described i hope they have a fix soon, game is fun otherwise.
New patch is out... And they fixed jack.

Seriously, I went to my office and dropped 8 stools... And the 9th didn't drop.

I have no words.

Wel, I have lot of words, but no polite ones, unfortunately.
same here. newest update 1.20147(3d718) do not fix anything. By deinstalling "houseflipper" "gardenflipper" and "hgtv" and start from scratch I could figure out that all problems are caused from the HgTV DLC. The sad thing: once you have installed the HgTV DLC, all you have accomplished is not playable anymore if you deinstall only the HgTV DLC. For me the worst thing is not to be able to crack walls as I want to...

The HgTV DLC by itself is nice to play ( who dont want to live in a nice beachhouse). But releasing a totally bugged DLC allmost got me put the hole game to data heaven....
Yes, the devs are slow to correct bugs, we'll have to wait at least a month longer...
I knew that, I should have wait far longer to buy the DLC...

New update (1.20173) still has issues (breaking walls at least didn't work, though changelog does not mention that this would have been fixed)...
Thanks for letting us know!
I think the wall problem is a major problem of the game design. Even without using the DLC there has been always a problem with multi level houses. Making rooms in bunkers will make the interior transparent unless you step into that room. Also if you try to fill a bunker with half walls all over, you cannot even move anymore. And because this issue was not fixed yet in any way I fear without a major update the DLC problem can not be solved.
I have the exact same problems. Also I can't klick on Yes in the choices windows after the chair bug happened. So i am not able to play the DLC after the 2nd house.
New patch came out fixed wall issues and problems with placing stuff down. I am loving it now, Game is actually playable.

So, we know we must wait one month and a half before buying coming DLC..

New patch came out fixed wall issues and problems with placing stuff down.
Not for me! Did a new installation, try to destroy all walls of the first house of the DLC... and no: only 70% or so of the walls could be destroyed. So now I am stuck with the DLC upgrade again because there is no way to just *deinstall* it. So if you dont want to loose your game progress, do not intall the DLC yet.
