* This thread is related to https://www.gog.com/forum/horizon_zero_dawn_complete_edition/my_technical_experience but I thought the outcome deserved a separate thread.
HZD is an excellent stability test for the GPU and RAM tweaks —likely also for the CPU, although I can't confirm it despite being tweaked too.
Although the mods made to both components appeared to be stable after hours and hours of stability testing and gameplay in other games, they proved to be unstable in HZD. This with the maximum settings at 1080p, 120 fps, and without rescaling.
As for the GPU, the game crashed but only about 2 or 3 times because it was easy to isolate the issue since it is a common thing and relatively easy to detect using the Event Viewer and the Afterburner monitoring window.
Not so the RAM issue. The game showed a persistent and irritating stuttering due to an inconsistent frametime due to permanent drops of 3 or 5 fps every few seconds despite being able to reach the desired framerate, which ruined the experience and immersion of the entire game but especially the animations in the cutscenes, particularly the facial ones. I tried many ways but none of them worked, just returning the RAM to its XMP configuration solved it, which was quite surprising having never witnessed a similar issue.
Now that I found and solved the issues the game has run for hours without any of them. The game went from being unbearable due to the stuttering to being gorgeous with the stable frametime—despite the horrible pop-up it has.
So it's a good idea to check your own setup before blaming anything or anyone else, maybe the issue is on your side.
