I installed the new v2.1 patch and now I keep getting this error window every time I launch the game. It says "access violation" in multiple languages. Here is the screenshot. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit on an nVidia card.

Is there any way to fix this problem? Are the game devs aware of it?

The "Access Violation" error has happened a few times before, but I don't believe the cause was identified. The developers do not read this forum (or if they do, they're not talking), so you are better off reporting this over on the Gearbox Forums, as the devs certainly read that one and welcome bug reports: http://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/c/homeworld

I found a log file about this problem and it says it has to do with Galaxy. Now I never installed Galaxy on this computer, so what is going on?

do you have any mods installed and active?

Lord_Kane: do you have any mods installed and active?
No. I was just playing HW1 Remastered with no mods. When I installed this new 2.1 patch, it starts throwing errors at me every time I launch. I checked the logs, and they mention "Galaxy.dll" on there and I don't have Galaxy installed. So that tells me that the Galaxy integration into the game is the problem.
sounds to me like Gearbox assumed all Goggers uses Galaxy. Or at least had it installed.

I have no GOG Galaxy installed, and the 2.1 Patch runs fine.

Were is the galaxy.dll? (in what folder)

Maybe a reinstall might help, assuming that some memory error, or hard disk error caused the file to be corrupted. And i also assume, that the galaxy.dll is a part of Homeworld Remastered.

Hey, can you post a link to the minidump + log file? Weird bug, I need to look into it. But the werid part is that in the log file the game thinks you are running Windows XP.

Also, I know that you said you never installed Galaxy Client, but can you check for the existence of C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\redists\ directory?

That's a known bug from most Windows NT based operating systems, whereby it reports "Windows XP" even if you clearly aren't running it. Nothing to be done about that.

I checked the C:\ProgramData folder and there's no Galaxy listed there.

I thought you had Galaxy installed a long time ago or was that a different PC?

That was a different PC. I've never installed Galaxy on my current one. Which is why it's so disconcerting that this GOG game is having launch issues because one doesn't have Galaxy installed. :-/

if all goes well I should be able to finish dl-ing the HWRC 2.1 tonight & as someone who never had galaxy (no GOG.com in "programData") I'll see if it errors out or not.

Shukaku mentioned that the error logs are reporting the wrong OS. I'm wondering if that has something to do with it. Since I'm running Win7 and the error logs say WinXP for some reason.
