Just thought I would pass on that I couldn't get the game to load unless I manually disabled the GoG overlay in the settings.

Can confirm. What's unusual is that it just started to do this today. I had played the game a few days ago and it was running fine.

Had the same, started crashing yesterday after working just fine until then. Disabling the overlay fixed my problem too.
