I recently downloaded Hollow Knight after having seen it on a friend's system. The page claims controller support, but my USB Controller (PowerA PS3 controller) that works for all my other games is not working at all. I know that this game needs a controller to be played (or it is "highly recommended" by the devs) but nothing is working for me- been trying for 1-2 hours now. Any help would be appreciated!

The game does work with DirectInput gamepads, so something generic should work. Maybe does not support Xinput?

Have you tried using a Directinput emulator such as MotionInJoy?

(to clarify, Xinput is used usually for modern console controllers, while DirectInput is used for most made-for-PC non-KB+M controllers. That's the way I understand it, but I could be wrong.)

So, the official fix for the game not recognizing controllers is to run a controller emulator... Hoo, boy... this might be getting returned...

Okay, "Big Picture" works... so I have to run a GoG game through steam's Big Picture to play it with a controller as advertised...

I already responded that to someone that is impossible to support every controller.
Not to mention cases when both users have original Xbox controller but one is working flawlessly and another is dead - also platform related. Accounting for every pad and configuration on PC - even AAA games cant afford.

That being said, they are working on new input detection stuff for pads, hopefully out this month. Should be.

If I'm a very good gog's customer it's because I really not appreciate steam, and if I buy something here it's not to install steam on my computer !

Awesome! Then, I'll watch for when it updates in the future, and will leave it uninstalled until then. Because, right now I can either play this with a controller ('360 controller, HORI PC pad, or Logitech-something from 10 years ago) through big picture, *or* anything else, since getting a controller working with this breaks input on all other programs on my system.

That's good news to look forward to. Thank you.
I've try with steam it don't work neither. :/
Controller regognized in big picture not ingame.

When you start the game from GOG lancher, the game does not see the Steam controller. If the game is added to Steam as a string, then the game sees the controller

Very strange situation
I have an issue with all my XBox One Controllers going constantly to the left and i can't get rid of this behaviour (Windows 7), how can this still be happening after so many years?? This should be one of the most used controllers in the world...

I ended up using JoyToKey to emulate keyboard input. The tool is shareware, easy to use and the most important - it does work.
There is an option for native controller support (not sure if there was a patch), this fixed the XBox One Controller in Windows 7 for me. :D
