The game is not working for me if I use dgVoodo2... Configured it as shown in the meristation posts and also tried to play with different configurations and it just crashes right at the start, it doesn't even show the intro movies

Does anyone have any ideas?

All my drivers are up to date

HP DV7-3162nr
Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate 32 bits
AMD Turion II M520 2300 MHz
ATI HD 4200 128mb
4gb RAM

Without dgVoodo2, it works great as every other LS3D engine game

Silverhawk170485: There is no widescreen support out of the box but there is a workaround, how you can run the game in widescreen.

http://www.wsgf.org/dr/hidden-dangerous-2

But it seems that the picture only gets streched to the appropriate size.

Download 2.53 version

Copy the dll's from the MS folder into the game folder (where the EXE is)

Open dgVoodooSetup

Ingame screns

This does nothing other than stretch the image. It's obvious by your "Ingame screns". This is actually exactly how mine looked by default. What we need is a true solution enabling widescreen resolutions, not a way to stretch the image to fill out the screen.

The reg hack solution is bogus too. Even if it does affect the game, based on their screenshots, it just stretches the image too. I might just refund this game.
Here's what appears to be a sweet widescreen fix folks - https://www.patreon.com/posts/13683645
I'm currently running my Hidden & Dangerous 2 retail version at 3440x1440 on a windohs 7 64bit pc using the above fix and it seems to be working perfectly fine. I get weird vertical aqua *SHUDder* letter boxing on the options screen and the hud is centred but the image doesn't look stretched and I'm happy as a pig in shit.

And for what it's worth here's another I haven't tried.

Sorry I should probably also mention I'm patched to 1.12.0, haven't installed Sabre Squadron, have installed teamrespawns texture pack ( http://www.moddb.com/games/hidden-dangerous-2/addons/hd2-skinpack-by-teamrespawncom ) and copied the files from the widescreen fixes archive thusly:

Files in maps folder to maps folder (already created for teamrespawn's mod) In main Hidden & Dangerous 2 folder

scripts folder to main Hidden & Dangerous 2 folder

dll to main Hidden & Dangerous 2 folder

then changed resolution in H&d2 setup exe.

over and out special soldiers. god speed.

UPdate: After playing for a few days....whilst thirteenag's widescreen fix does what it says on the tin, one of the things on the tin alludes to no fmv's at the start of missions, and not having played the game before through to the end this is unfortunately for me at least a bit of a deal breaker. Bummer.

Oh and the second fix is balls. Sorry folks.

I finished the game last week with the fix and all the FMVs played just fine before a mission.

I was playing at 1920x1080, Windows 10, with the "fixedhud" option on the script folder ini to 0

bugger - I just uninstalled. So I wonder what's going on there then....could it be the resolution I was using - 3440x1440?

Also, the only option I saw in the ini was an FOV one, set to 0 by default. Is that what you're referring to?

There are 2 options in the .ini

FixHUD=0
FOVFactor = 0.0

Maybe you were using an outdated version?

Weird. I don't see how - I only downloaded it this week...

Thanks for the feedback though, much appreciated. Did the hud value stretch it to the edges or was it still centred?

At the value of 1 it was centered, i didnt like that so i changed the value to 0 and it went to the edges.

Oh that's good to know. One more question if you don't mind...when you were in the menu screen, was it centred with aqua coloured vertical letterboxing or was that also full screen?

It was fullscreen no letterboxes whatsoever.
TL;DR:

Download HiddenandDangerous2.WidescreenFix.zip from (see patreon link in previous page, which takes you to github) then extract the contents (Maps folder, scripts folder, and d3d8.dll) to your Hidden and Dangerous 2 game folder.

Run setup.exe from the Hidden and Dangerous 2 game folder and see new choice of resolutions. That's it.

FWIW I have the following selected:
1920x1080, 4x
Fullscreen, Tripple Buffering, Vertical Synchronization, 60Hz, 32 bit.
Tru colour
Sound, Current windows speaker conf.
Hardware Transform & Lighting, Suspend when inactive.

I installed this a while back and it works great. This is what I was waiting for...a real solution.
Finally something that REALLY works!

However I am experiencing some strange khaki and black blinking graphical artifacts on arctic1, 3, and africa1, 5. They are really disturbing, because they're blocking my sight in many occasions.

I haven't yet tried it on my main, desktop PC, only on laptop, but I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced the same issue...?
