Hey guys,

Just wanted to chime in and let you all know that we added 16-bit stereo music to our version of Heroes of Might and Magic 1. Please download the bigger (literaaly :D), stronger, and even awesomer installer and let us know what you think! :D

Have a nice day! :D

This is awesome! Thanks a lot and thank you also for flagging the new installer as "New" so I saw it right away on my shelf. That was great. I hope all new installers will get that treatment going forward.

I just started with this game recently. Time to reinstall and enjoy the nice music! :D

Please do. The way you guys will go the extra mile like this really means a lot to me and I'm sure to very many of us GOG customers.
Great news, thanks Judas!:)
Wow! I was considering starting this one soon. Now I'm glad I waited! I'll just have to get somewhere with high-speed so I can download the new installer...
This is awesome! :)
A big thanks to the tech team for all the hard work!

Just curious where the 16-bit stereo music was in the previous installer? Was it just removed to keep the space down or was there a technical challenge to overcome?

Anyway, thanks for the update.
When I downloaded it and started it right after the download it was very laggy. I'm not sure but I think that it was every time it went to a new music track I got sort of "jumping" sound... I then tried my own shortcut for it in D-Fend reloaded. And that seemed to work perfectly. There are several differences. But I think the main ones are: Fixed cycles count... This seems to remove most sound problems. I run it at 50000 cycles. And also I run graphics in ddraw... However I don't really think the skipping is due to graphics being laggy...

Straight up!

Is this the definitive GOG version of HoMM1?

Next step would definitely be a nice little changelog or note on what the update does to go with that notification. Your posts are great but it might not be obvious to everyone that the most recent update's notes are in a sticky in a forum somewhere.
I would be cool to fix Heroes 2, the broken sound for Dimension Door or Town Portal.

Brilliant! Send a thanks to the GOG team for continuing to work on games even after they're released. :)
Awesome! A salute for the tech team!

Holy guacamole! That was actually faster than I expected. Kudos to the tech team (also, ISO made in CDBurner? Someone still uses that one? wow :D) and also thanks to you for bringing it to their attention :)
