Just installed GOG and HoMM III New on Win 10 and the game just will not launch. I get a 'notification' sound and a window opens on my taskbar but it will not let me read it.

Links to a fix or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Since this is a new purchase, I suggest you contact GOG Support. GOG Support does not read this forum. The game should work out of the box without tweaks. If it does not, they need to investigate why it does not. Be prepared to go through a few rounds of submitting additional system information. Start out by sending them as much relevant information as you can.

Manually install DirectPlay. https://windowsreport.com/enable-directplay-windows-10/

Also, get the HD mod, which bypasses some of the issues. https://sites.google.com/site/heroes3hd/
