Taro94: Any news on HotA campaign editor? I know the devs wanted to include it in some version, but the wait is getting long...
Hey, Taro94.
I suggest You contact the devs directly if You wish to create campaigns. They might be able to help You out.

That's too much hassle, I think I'll wait. :P
The OP's directions are conflicting: they say you need to install HOTA on an umodified Heroes 3, but also says you need to have the HD mod.
wish there was a way to play Horn of the Abyss and get all the cool features without having cove units, or having cove heroes show up in the tavern
HotA version 1.5.0 is out, which will be followed 1.5.1 very soon.

Here's the full changelog: http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=39830&PID=1450024#focus

Is it safe to download?, i'm paranoid when it comes to download something. Just playing the gog version atm.
Hey guys.

Sorry to "refresh" a thread that might be inactive anymore, but I have a question which I can't seem to find an answer elsewhere (well, not yet at least) and I figured this is the best chance to get the info I actually need. If any of you will manage to help me, I would appreciate it.

Quite some time ago I bought "Heroes 3 Complete" here, on GoG mostly as means to show my support of the site and the game (had Heroes CD version even, though it's probably not compatible with my system anymore ^^') and didn't really used the game. I'm commonly reluctant towards mods, but "Horn of the Abyss" seemed pretty neat and I wanted to give it a try.

Sadly, once I installed Heroes 3 Complete from GoG, I can't seem to instal either HotA nor HD mod - both installers pinpoint Heroes folder just fine, but despite this each claims that the installation cannot proceed because the folder lacks the necessary files :(

As far as I know, I downloaded the newest version of HotA (1.5.3 I believe) and I'm not sure what the issue is. Do any of you have a clue what the reason behind these troubles be? Thanks in advance.
Same for me, the addon does not identify the unedited (just downloaded again) GOG version of HOMM 3 complete. HD pack works. Weird, seems to be bugged.

zU84ha76la: HotA is an add-on made to resamble the original HoMM III expansions as closely as it is only possible. Its creators didn't want to lose the spirit of the game. There is some really high-quality stuff in it--HotA features a new pirate town
well then the spirit of adding useless towns rather than balancing the, should we say, already expansive portfolio is obviously respected! well done =p

While I have issues with the general premise of a 'Pirate town' (and a small few specific to HotA's version), HotA's 'Cove' is not at all "useless". It is very professionally done and as fun to play as any other town. The balance issues (i.e. Conflux town being overpowered in particular) have been and are being addressed. Conflux for example now requires a new "Vault of Ashes" be built before one can churn out 3 phoenixes per week. MANY other tweaks and fixes by HotA as well.

well the thing is that there's already too many towns to sensibly balance.
Does anyone know how to edit the creature text files? The traditional crtraits.txt doesn't change creature stats for Horn of the Abyss

That does not make sense. The number of towns does not have anything to do with whether they are balanced or not. Before there were only 8 towns and the game was horribly unbalanced. This mod adds a new town while fixing those balance issues from before so I do not see your point here.
